The Autoblaster. Why, Where and When?

I like the auto blaster and have had good results when facing 2 or 3 defense die ships. As a TIE swarm player, I have a healthy respect for this weapon.

Now I'm wondering what a crew member might mean for an autoblaster on a Blue or Dagger.

Is there a crewmember that significantly improves Autoblaster on the Firespray or Shuttle?

Well, there are more crewmembers available to the Rebels of course, and more are coming in Rebel Aces, with Kyle responding to gaining stress and giving focus to [??]. If he acts like Fell you can attack focused and TL'd with an autoblaster which, granted, still sucks but now you can suck cheaper.

the only thing that the autoblaster really shines against is ships with 3 or more agility that are likely to defend most if not all of your incoming shots anyways

i only ever found it useful on a bounty hunter due to it's wide fire arc at range one but i am still undecided as to whether or not it was worth the overall cost

5 points seems a little too steep for such a secondary weapon

3 points however could make it very viable

Depends on the agility of the ship in front of you. TIE phantoms, anyone?

yes the HLC is well worth the cost and for the ships that can use it, it's guaranteed to be 4 dice into your target no matter what range you're shooting from and defender only gets regular defense for range 3 shots (not including asteroid line of sight blockage)

the only issue with it is that 7 points cut into your squad points, severely

The best use I have found for it is

Itbitsam w/ Engines, PtL.

The barrel roll + Boost can get you in range 1 quite well and quite often outside their arch. Plus your reroll of 1 die is great.

Works great against Agi 3 hits but it not worth it against 1-2 agility ships. So I typically don't use it. Although it is fun to have Jan give you a 4th die with Autoblaster.

You could also swap out PtL with Opportunist which could be fun.
