I had a hard time with the bomber at first. I would load it up, pair it up with some support ships and it always ended up dying first (taking points of unfired ordinance with it!)
Then I bought two more bombers and I am suddenly winning games with them. The trick is to spread ordinance out to maximize your alpha strike damage and to mitigate the chance that it will be un fired when the bomber goes down.
My favorite list so far has been 2 Gammas with Concussion Missiles, Captain Jonus with Determination and Colonel Jendon with Heavy Laser Cannon and ST-321 title
Jonus gives re-rolls with secondaries, the shuttle gives out target locks from anywhere on the board in addition to hammering your enemy with 4 attack dice + the two die re-roll. The Gammas target lock/focus for a devastating alpha strike and then make able, tough dogfighters afterwards.
Edited by KommanderKeldothI went Top 8 at regionals with a 5 Bomber squadron:

Trust me, staring at my list from the other side is quite menacing.

You are welcome.
If you don't mind not using bombers in their intended role rock the bomber swarm! Howlrunner and 5 scimitar squad bombers with nothing on them is a 6 pack tie swarm with 33 life! They shoot just as well as normal tie fighters and have PS 2! You just have to learn to fly them as they do not tight turn like the tie swarm you might be used to.
