Good droid for salvagers

By BigAngryWookie101, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Our group is a listened salvaging group, and we've actually been pretty successful. We even managed to salvage ourselves an old CR90-Corvette. We have a crew and a lot of cargo space. While lately we have started getting a bit more into anti-empire and combat stuff, I'm still interested in furthering our salvage capabilities.

I'm looking for droids that would be good for that specific job. I've seen the BLX General labor droid and think its a good fit, but I'm looking for other suggestions if people have'em.

How much are we look at here?

An extra droid for the crew? Or looking for a secondary crew?

If you just looking for a specific droid to join your party I would say go with this guy.

LE Series Repair Droid (Rival)

A highly specialized repair droid, cheaper repair droids are easily found else wear but these are very effective at what they do, but their price tag matches it. Ideal for shipyards or star dock maintenance. Not extremely popular due to the price and how specialized they are, but well known and respected for their quality.

Cost: 10,000

Or I would go with a Overseer droid (Ubrikkian DD-19

“Overseer” Droid)/Supervisor droid (EV Supervisor Droid) with a team with of these guys.

PIT Droid (Minion)

250px-DUM-pitdroid_negtd.jpg

A very recognizable droid in shops and construction areas, made for labor, repair, and light construction. Not intelligent but very useful as manual labor if kept under eye. Do to the cheap price these droids do not come with equipment usually the buyer will have to also get tool kits or utility belts for the droids to use, their small size prevents them from having internal storage, but they are deceptively strong being able to move objects larger than themselves and several times heavier.

I should have added a bit more details I guess. My apologies.

I was looking for a few droids to supplement the crew and help with the heavy lifting. We have an R2 unit that we salvaged, and 5 pit droids that help our mechanic. I like the idea of adding the LE to our crew though...

Yeah that looks like a good one. Hmm, I wonder how many droids an average salvage crew has

i would say it depends on the size of the ship and how big fhe wreck or salvage load i. also it mighf be good to have a couple bulk loaders.will make it much easier tk move things

Found another one. What about the Binary Load Lifter at http://kainrath.wordpress.com/2014/02/09/binary-load-lifter/ ?

For actual salvaging I wouldn't suggest that droid, simply because looking at its "hands" it has no dexterity, now if we are talking about after stuff is packed up and is on pallets or something along those lines, it is perfect.

I kind of agree. It'd be fine just for carrying stuff around, which might still help. But not so much for actual salvage

What about the old Industrial Automaton ASP-7?

They're a generic labour droid.

Designed for easy upgrades, comparatively cheap and have upgrade ports where you can put new hardware or tools in them.

http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/ASP-7_labor_droid

In the old D6 system they used to cost about 1000c, more if they've got some upgrades. They are extremely menial in the factory form (pick things up and put them down) and can basically say yes-no.

I'd put them as 1 in all stats as a new one and maybe +1000c for every stat given a +1.

Maybe 500c for every trained skill at 1-pip

Whatever else you bolt into them for tools as book cost.

So, they're as derpy or useful as much as you invest into them without too much of a big overhead at start, probably fit them with restraining bolts so not just anyone can tell them to 'follow me' or have kids tell them to jump off veranda's etc

I hope the technician Sourcebook expands droids/scavenging.

I hope the technician Sourcebook expands droids/scavenging.

I would even hope to see 'sub-species' of droids much as we have Corellian Humans as a variant on Humans. Ideally, slightly different starting spreads for each Class of droid. Probably won't happen, but I can hope.

Can anyone tell me the price of a basic astromech droid? I need an answer quick. I thought it was in the Core Rulebook but I've been flipping through it and can't find any prices for droids.

It is, but it's in the minion section in the middle of the droids, page 409.

Hmm... You Have an R2 Unit, How About A 3PO Unit =)

Seriously Though, If You're Looking To Supplement Your Crew, Why Don't You Make One? It Will Be Able To Help You In The Rag You Want, And Be More Useful In More Areas. Hell, You Could Even Have It Be your CheF
