Prepare for Rebel Assault Article leaves one unprepared

By Stone37, in X-Wing

Even if both the E-wing and Z-95 perform Koiogran turns, the Blackmoon will get its stress cleared by Wingman and can then perform an action, plus another granted by Cracken in the combat phase.

I think this is a mistake, though. Wingman clears stress after the "Perform Action" step, so the E-wing would still only get one action.

I think so, too. The author got wingman wrong.

No, it makes perfect sense . . . The Ewing can PTL and then take 2 actions. Then when the activation phase ends he clears stress from Craken. Then in combat phase from Cracken.

Now that is a pretty neat trick, and it's much more useful than on most Rebel fighters.

Since the Imps will have a max of 5 ships but likely 3-4, I'm a bit keen on something a little audacious for the final round:

Corran Horn, PTL, Engine, Adv Sen, R2-D2 (49)

Ibtisam, PTL, Engine, Adv Sen (38)

Bandit (12)

100

or maybe with more firepower but less mobility:

Corran Horn, PTL, Engine, R2-D2 (46)

Ibtisam, PTL, Engine, HLC (42)

Bandit (12)

99

A VI named Phantom will, of course, be challenging but it would be a blast to fly and I think it can do well.

From the article

"For example, a pair of Bandit Squadron Pilots, compared to a single Rookie Pilot or Blue Squadron Pilot, have a lot of advantages going for them. Their ships have the total health of the B-wing, but the defense dice of the X-wing. They have more attack dice than either, and take up more space for getting in your opponent’s way."

Yes 4 attack dice are better than 3 (maybe). At the same cost they will give your opponent more to chew through for a victory as they have 8 hits between them. Both these facts can be a little misleading. By just focusing the attention on the attack dice, the 4 easily sounds better until you consider you are also doubling the evade dice as well. 8 health points where once you get 4 of those hits in,you basically reduce the offense in half. The EDO ( Expected Damage Output ) Vs 2 agility for the Z's is .47 , that is with both defender and attacker with focus. If you can steal that focus on the first attack it improves to EDO .87 on the second attack. Combining those you'll get, if the defender keeps his focus for the second attack EDO .94 and if you get that focus on the first attack EDO 1.34. 3 attack dice Vs 2 agility both focused has an EDO of 1.07 and 1.53 if the defender has no focus. As always dice can go hot and cold.
