No matter what squad of rebels I run curse and jax and a mix of other ties keep ruining my fun playing against my brothers. I have 1 falcon,1 hwk 2 xwings and 2 bwings. what should I do?
how would you counter dark curse and carnor jax?
Just gang up on them early as possible. Jax doesn't affect TL, and enough dice thrown Curse's way should be enough to kill him. Just fly right and make sure you've got good shots each round.
I find a ship with Marksmanship on it is a great way, offensively, to counter Jax and Dark Curse as I am not spending focus.
What are you flying?
Dark Curse is hard to kill but he's just a TIE fighter. Carnor Jax may have a badass ability but he has to hit Range 1 to do his thing. He won't last long that close up.
They're stopping you using Focus. You need to adapt around that. If B-wings can't focus make maximum use out of their Barrel Rolls. Jan Ors with Nien Numb and Ion Cannon Turret should counter Jax's maneuverability allowing you to vape him, and Jan's extra dice gives you some punch Jax takes away. If Jax is around so's Imperial Aces so stick Opportunist and R2 Astromech on an X-wing to gain the punch you lose by being unable to focus. Wedge Antilles can also counteract some of Jax and Curse's evasiveness, especially if paired with Opportunist (forcing Jax to spend actions on tokens instead of dancing) or with Jan.
As for Dark Curse, he's in a TIE fighter. He may be a pain to kill but he's hardly going to take your forces down alone.
Jax is good but like any well designed mechanic he has his weaknesses too.
Edited by LagomorphiaHan with marksmanship/luke is a no brainer for taking out Jax, and an Ion turret on a HWK is always nice (Blaster turrets being useless here
If you're expecting to see those two, assume you don't have access to focus. Build your force around target locks and lots of dice and you'll be fine.
Wedge is a good call - he still can't use focus effectively, but he can reduce the TIE's defence dice, and Biggs can keep fire off his back whilst he does so.
I'd probably shelve the HWK as the blaster turret isn't going to fire reliably. A YT-1300 of some sort will do you better (probably Han if you're worried about hitting things), plus it has a range 3 turret which can cover your squad's tail if (when*) you get outmanouvred.
* Not in any way intended to criticise your playing skill - but Jax is in a TIE interceptor and you...aren't. Unless you're in an A-wing, he's going to get the drop on you.
Marksmanship, Wedge, range 1 YT-1300.
After Rebel Aces Keyan Farlander will work, especially with HLC.
Jax is the easiest of the two. If his ability is affecting you, that means he's at range 1 of you, so you get an extra attack dice! Have everyone take target locks instead of focus and hope for the best.
Dark Curse is trickier, you need double luck, a good non-modified attack roll on your part, and a bad defensive roll on his part. Again if you can get him at range 1 that helps since you have a extra dice to throw at him to increase your odds.
Roark Garnet with Ion turret, Wedge with R2 -D2 and 2 x rookie pilot, you will have two ships shooting before anything empire throws at you.
Dark Curse
Simply ignore him. He's a TIE fighter, and like most other TIEs he don't really deal any significant damage to your forces. Of course, when he presents himself to you at range 1 with no tokens, you could perhaps try for a couple of lucky shots. But otherwise, please shoot at someone else.
If you happen to have Marksmanship on somebody, you could have the sharpshooter attempt to take him out early, since Marksmanship is unaffected by Dark Curse's ability
Carnor Jax.
If Rebels, you have a whole lot of stuff to deal with him. Turret weapons and ion weapons love TIEints. Fletch torps are new and very crippling against PTL users. That new R3-A3 droid too. If all else fails, simply target lock him and blast him into smithereens
If Imperials, tough luck, since your entire squadron runs on focus and evade tokens. Carnor Jax vs Carnor Jax is an interesting way to neutralize each other, but can get very dicey. Once again, Fletch torps can help, but this means you need to find some creative ways to include a torp carrier into your team. The age old "block him with an academy" works too, but to a much smaller extent. Soontir is still good, provided you stay far far away from him. Autoblaster could work on paper, but Autoblaster EngineUpgrade Firespray is very expensive, and Autoblaster Shuttle is a joke.
I would think tossing a proton torpedo on Ibtisam would be a decent option. Get a TL on jax to fire them, her ability provides a pseudo TL for the attack and the torpedoes themselves provide a focus like effect.
Thanks everyone. Vast amounts of useful info all around.
The last time we played i think i used Kyle with the focus engine upgrades and an ion turret, 2 blue squad b-wings with fire control and the other with expert handling and a rookie x-wing. or something close to that list.

Yeah Kyle or Garven are basically useless against those people, and Expert handling can't be used on Blue Squadron Pilots
whoops.
