New Squad "Chicken Tikka"

By Soontirbeblownup, in X-Wing

Ok, so I had a go at rebels at the weekend after messing about with all Royal Guard and 2 Squints and 2 Bombers.

And did fairly well with this list

Green Sq Pilot - Push the Limit x2

Dagger Sq Pilot - Adv Sensors x2

Tanky B's and nippy A's, lacked the barrel roll option on the A's but seemed a nice option as advance sensors helped when I made a mistake with flying. Any ways to tweak this? Or is it a failrly standard list?

Compared to previously planned out, and am not torn between which list to go with!

Royal Guard Pilot- Push the limit, Royal Guard, Targeting Computer, Stealth Device x2

Scimitar Sq Pilot - Flachette Torp, Seismic Charges x2

Cheers

I don't know how standard it is, but I've run that list and had success with it. Once Rebel Aces drops, I'm looking at a spinoff:

Green Sq Pilot- Chardraan Refit, Opportunist, Stealth Device x2

Dagger Sq Pilot- FCS x2

I guess this one would be Butter Chicken?

I've also considered swapping Stealth Device for Predator + A-Wing Title on the A-Wings and calling it the Chris Hansen All-Stars or something.

I was hoping to stick some missiles on the Greens really, but hey have to make sacrifises!

Hmm, not butter chicken, would have to be a parody of another ABBA song title really...

Gimme, Gimme, Gimme (Red Dice after Movement) ???

OH, I wasn't thinking of the ABBA song, just the dish with the chicken, rice, and rather tasty sauce. Gimme Gimme Gimme would work as a name for the second one. Not sure about the the Oppotunist/Predator build, unless ABBA has a song called Free Candy or something like that.

Yeah It's not obvious straight away! Can't think of a Free Candy based one... maybe Candy, Candy, Candy??

Love 'Chris Hansen All Stars' name. Start every game with looking at your opponent and saying 'why are you here? Why don't you come in and sit down.'

I've been toying with a similar (post Rebel Aces) squad consisting of the following:

Dagger Squadron Pilot (24)
Sensor Jammer (4)

Dagger Squadron Pilot (24)
Sensor Jammer (4)

Green Squadron Pilot (19)
Push the Limit (3)
Chardaan Refit (-2)
Wingman (2)
A-Wing Test Pilot (0)

Green Squadron Pilot (19)
Push the Limit (3)
Chardaan Refit (-2)
Wingman (2)
A-Wing Test Pilot (0)

Total: 100

How it works is that you've got your two heavy hitters. If you haven't tried Sensor Jammer, it really is a potent upgrade. They move in and attack, either forcing the enemy to use focus tokens on damage or attempting to strip them with their attack. It's quite a good time turning a hit into an eye when your opponent doesn't have a focus token, especially as it can't be rerolled. It makes TIE Swarms cry if they don't have focus. Howlrunner becomes largely useless.

So these two tanks move in to engage from the front. You keep the A-Wings together in a loose flight. They can Push the Limit every turn and clear the stress at the start of combat every turn with Wingman. They move in from the side or from behind. If the enemy moves to engage you focus and evade. If not, focus and target lock. Or boost and focus. They add extra punch, since they can pretty much ensure 2 hits every turn on targets already weakened by the B-Wings.

If you haven't tried Sensor Jammer, give it a try. It really adds a lot of defense to a B-Wing.
