Swarm Tactics on CR90 Corvette

By MantoF18, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Hello Folks, here's an good one;

Can you use Swarm Tactics (or Decoy) on the CR90 Corvette? What about Roark Garnet?

It moves after all Small and Large Ships. Normally it shoots at a Pilot Skill 4...

But with Roark....geez... that Corvette could be popping off 4+ shots before ANYONE...

Even Han.

I feel like I read a rule that prevent this, but can't find it when re-reading the Huge Ship rules.

Thanks for your thoughts and consideration.

shout out to Buhallin! You're always great on the rules Interpretations.

My own personal Bat Signal :)

I think it's probably allowed. There's a list of specific things the huge ships can't do, such as free actions, that inhibit the ability of regular ships to affect them. But as near as I can tell, any ability that isn't specifically on the list is perfectly fine. That means Dutch can let it target lock, E'tahn could change its hits to crits, and yes, another ship could use Swarm Tactics on it.

Yeah, should work just fine. Enjoy your PS12 corvette. :)

Would Swarm Tactics affect the whole ship or just one section?

I concur. It works.

Both ship cards have a PS value. ST says it works on a ship. Not on a section. According to the rulebook, the combat phase works ship by ship, not ship section by ship section. The huge ship rules do not overrule that. So the entire ship has to shoot during one activation. That also means that the ship should have only one PS value, even if it is printed on both cards.

I think that ST works on the entire ship.

Allowing one section to equip VI would result in an interesting rules discussion.

I tend to agree with you as I was more playing Devil's Advocate on this by bringing it up.

If we ever get a chance to add Elite Pilot Skills to huge ships, I'm totally putting Expert Handling on it instead of VI :D

I can totally see that rules discussion: Front of base to end of base. Of one plastic base or of the entire base?

Thanks for your replies everyone! Good luck barrel rolling that Corvette, lol

One thought just crossed my mind. Well, two, actually.

Would not work. Huge ships cannot perform free actions. So the free barrel roll action would be off.

Daredevil looks promising. It can force overlap!
