question about cybernetics

By pashacordaro420, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

i was going to make my smuggler scoundrel but i was wondering if our gm allowed it could i give a singlw cyber eye?

I don't see why not?

From a purely aesthetic standpoint I see no reason why not. If you are looking for one with the upgrades that will be a conversation. There are prosthetic replacements for body parts that confer no bonuses but can 'look' however you like.

As long as it is just a replacement with no benefits it should not be an issue. It would cost something if he was able to take it out and use it remotely

I had one player who wanted a cyber arm just so he could use it as an improvised weapon and club people with it. I would make it cost something.

i could make it part of my obligation jf i wanted the upgrade i think the crb has an example for ship debt i could make it an equipment debt add some other thing make it or do you it pushing too much?

You can do anything your GM lets you. Again, if you just want the eye for the idea of having a cybernetic eye that's no big deal as there are prosthetic replacement parts for body organs that offer no benefits other than just replacing a lost limb or organ. Then there are the ones with Characteristic and Skill upgrades, if that's what you want then that would be a talk with your GM.

Pasha, you're asking questions to a forum that you should be asking your GM, because he's the one who's gonna make the call.

Really if your cyber-eye is pure fluff, and doesn't give any advanced, better-than-natural senses, then it doesn't break anything, power-wise. I wouldn't even require Obligation for that if I was GM, because it doesn't matter mechanics-wise.

This. Also, it makes your eye vulnerable to ion damage. So mechanics-wise, you'd even be at a slight disadvantage.

that's something to think about I didn't know that it caused a weakness to ion damage. but wouldn't have to hit the eye directly to damage it?

I probably would not rule that way.

Neither would I. That and if an Ion grenade went of near you *shrug*

Yeah, the human body is conductive :) So the ion blast would course harmlessly through the rest of your body but knock out your eye.

EDIT: Not physically knock it out, but like...make it stop working.
