Anti-Air (Rudimentary/Advanced)

By Routa-maa, in Only War Rules Questions

Ok, Shield of Humanity has new Vehicle Trait called Anti-Air (Rudimentary/Advanced).

I understand how it works but can't find anywhere what is standard penalty for ground vehicles firing at aircraft.

Only penalty I found from Only War CRB, was from p. 38 Flying: Low Altitude (-10 to BS in addition to any normal penalties from range.)

Other was from Final Testament, p.144 Vehicle Trait: Flya. But it has its own explanation of modifiers you get.

-50 to BS when shooting with weapon not meant for AA fire

or

-20 to BS when using designated AA weapon.

Is this again something that FFG is printing rules against Traits before they have that specific Trait in the game? Or is this just case of specific rule blindness.

There are no rules for aircraft, and thus no rules for shooting at them in the Core Rulebook (hence why you can't find any penalties for shooting at them). It's future proofing.

So we play waiting game until FFG publishes their Imperial Navy/Aeronautical book.

Thanks.

...but that means it's upcomming...

We shall see. -_-

Random bits

vehicles with the Orbital Deployment trait are at -30 to hit while in flight

anti aircraft doctrine gives +10 to hit

any flyer at high altitude can't be hit

the altitude rules need a bit of work though as it only takes a move action to change height.

-50 vs Flya with standard weapons or -20 with dedicated AA weapons with base ranges of 100m can't hit
