Is it just sad ... ?

That I don't own any ships .. but have printed our all the rules on full size paper and put them in sleeves. LOL Am gonna do some print outs of cards as well for reference / offline list building.

Anyone else do crazy stuff?

Do you actually want an answer to this question?

If so, then the answer is yes. Go buy some ships.

Now's as good a time as any to buy ships. You have 4 waves to choose from to pick your preferred list. Unlike most of us, who have ships we may never use again because fielding so many has become obsolete or we now have a new preference.

Play Vassal until you can get some? But Buy some ships. Then sit in your room and play with them like they were the micromachines of old.

What got you to the point of being obsessed with the game enough to go to such lengths?

This is without a doubt my favoirte game I have ever played. I love the models, I love the license material, I really really love the game play. Find a game store or a friend to play with you and just buy the stuff. You will be glad you did.

A couple of starter sets and maybe an expansion for your favorite Star Wars ship is really all you need.

lack of any other games really./ people to play with i tend to get attached real quick. i own 3 wh40k books just codex not even handbook. no models, read .. built army lists, even rolled dice :)

same w/ dnd 3rd ed. eventually played w/ some friends. but would build 20 level character spreadsheets.

wizkids pocketmodel, played with son, but own dozens of cards.

just bored i guess lol

I've actually compiled a document of all the released pilot and upgrade cards and keep it on my e-reader for reference. Really handy when I'm waiting for a pizza, as I can try and sort out my next squad without cards.

This poor man needs Vassal.

LoL downloaded w/ xwing module .. think i got farther trying to use Linux OS than this app lol ;)

I started out with the core set, it got dull fast but I could see the potential in the game. I used printouts of the cards with cardboard squares for extra ships to try it out before really buying into the game. Now, a year and a half later I have 22 ships, and the 2 huge ones on preorder, and $350 less to my name. I regret nothing!

I second this! =)

I'm actually considering dumping all of my other miniature gaming stuff and solely playing x wing. No real painting or assembling involved (minus painting "a few custom modifications"), quick and easy to teach other people, relatively cheap to get someone into starting (starter costs what 20 bucks?), and fun to play and design builds. Not to mention the best part: there really isn't any room for rule trolls and or arguments or long research periods into the rule book while playing. 99% of rule questions can be found by looking in the rule book for 10 seconds unlike.. 40k for instance. Two people playing x wing can get a whole game in before two other people playing 40k are even set up and deployed.

I will say though watching x wing on youtube leaves something to be desired. for some reason watching x wing is like watching someone play baseball to me. Much more fun to just play a game than watch it. 40k is actually quite entertaining to watch on youtube.
