I'm not sure if this is the right forum for this, but I LOVE the Stars of Inequity treasure generation table, especially all the little quirks and so forth that are included, but...I'm kinda disappointed in how little stuff there is in the list? Only 10 melee and ranged weapons, when with all the other expansion books there is probably close to 100 kinds of weapon. What I'm wondering is if there's a generator or table or /something/ out there that includes other books as far as being able to generate loot randomly, or if I'm going to have to just reference and plan out all the cool goodies I drop my players?
Rogue Trader Treasure Generator

I smell a long thread on this one...the question is who will create you table!

I don't see any sense of giving my PC's just another "better plasma pistol" or "cooler armor". Instead they receive for example 1mx1m gravity shifters for use in specific circumstances (physics, *******). It's cool, because we all have fun and they can't use it for anything useful anyway, so my campaign is safe.
What other kinds of cool gear can you think of?
Portal gun is obvious (can be used only on specific surfaces, sometimes demons come out and eat user's soul, but it's all the same as in a game).

If there's not some such thing already made, the temptation to actually crack open EXCEL and do it myself is pretty big. I almost had finished making my own automated version of the system generator when I discovered three people had already made better ones than me, so I mean, worst case scenario I sit down with every single book and each potential piece of gear and build one myself.

Mostly I just have a group who's very used to Pathfinder and such, where they get new pieces of gear every now and then, and while many of them already have their ideal weapon set-up from gen(A pair of bolt-pistols, a plasma pistol and power sword, etc.) I have an explorator who wants to get his hands on some archaotech, and I really like the idea of random-genning equipment from different tables, and the table that comes in SoI, while nice, only really has 10 ranged weapons, 10 melee weapons, and as many bits of armor, and nothing really interesting or different, just small permutations of the same equipment.
Arguably that's still what you're going to get if you just dump all the weapons and armour into an excel file. Getting anything that approximates unique and useful technology pretty much means that the GM has to come up with it.
Unless you want to go in the direction of adding modifiers to objects, like randomly generating a dataslate that's filled with unique knowledge about the beasts of the Koronus Expanse, but contains a meme-virus that reduces your ability to focus on tasks, adding a level of fatigue or somesuch.
True! But at the same time, I enjoy randomly generating equipment, and at the moment, all I have are 10 ranged and 10 melee weapons, when there's SO MANY others. For example, the random generation table doesn't account for heavy weapons, or any sort of plasma, pistol or melta weapons, and even bolt weapons aren't represented. I for one would love to see someone get their hands on, say, a Plasma Pistol with Peerless Elegance, or maybe a Man Portable Lascannon with that effect that adds degrees of success or failure. And my problem is that the basic starting tables don't do any of that. Just give you Rifle. Or Pistol. Or Thermal Cutter. And that's about it
Well it is generic in just saying rife or pistol then just decide that when you roll pistol you say to yourself a plasma pistol would be great or just let it ride as a rifle then after its fully generated decide then that they way you rolled would make a cool long las or bolter or what have you. problem solved and no extra tables and complications.
