All my X's...

By metal mojon, in X-Wing

Greetings fellow pilots (for the rebel and the empire alike). Have played for a while now and lurked plenty on these forums quiet a bit. First, want to say what a great community this game has. Lots of help to be found and great advice to boot. That being said, am looking to enter my first tourney in the coming months and have had a lot of success with this build. Any and all advice is appreciated!

Biggs + r5-p9 + shield upgrade

Garven + r2-d6 + veteran instincts

Wes + r2-d2 + swarm tactics + shield upgrade

Good synergy with plenty of maneuverability and defense. It's all about that first pass and keeping the group firing all ships at ps8. Again, cheers guys and happy flying!!

Ps. Oh yea.. Rebel scum for life!! =]

Live in Texas....LOL!

LAWL..

The first thing I thought of was:

all your x's are belong to us

I see a couple problem. FIrst, Biggs is probably not going to live long enough to get any use out of r5-p9. Even if you survive a couple rounds of shooting, you'll have to spend the focus to evade attacks, and evading a single damage is effectively the same as not evading it and recovering the shield. They have to shoot at Biggs. The only way to regen shields effectively then is to give him R2D2 instead. That way he can just do a green and get the shield back. Still, I don't expect him to live long, even with R2D2 and Shield Upgrade. I see you have Garven in there to give him a focus, but keep in mind that even if you make it through combat with 2 focus tokens, you can only spend one of them on shields.

I'd almost suggest giving Wes Draw Their Fire instead of Swarm Tactics. Yes, that means Biggs doesn't shoot at 8 with the rest, but you can pull off a damage from Biggs to Wes, then recover the shield with R5P9.

Sable, why haven't you critiqued my list?

I'm a sheep. You're an orc. I might be a little scared. ;)

Swarm Tactics on Wes is a bit of a dud because it will only benefit Biggs who is going to be the prime target and dead soonest.

Switch R2-D2 and R5-P9. Wes' ability triggers regardless of hits so you don't absolutely need the focus there, saving it for a shield recovery.

I would end up, in this case with:

Biggs

R2-D2

Shield Upgrade

Garven

R2-D6

Opportunist

Wes

Predator

R5-P9

Wes focuses, has a reroll as a static ability so may choose not to use the focus offensively and will always strip. He can use his focus for defense or to rebuild his shields.

Garven focuses, uses it on the attack to get the maximum effect out of his 4 or 5 attack dice, then passing it to whoever needs it the most.

Biggs soaks up the hits, turtling up with one or two defensive focuses.

I do have something of a reputation around here, but I'm not that kind of Ork.

Predator + R5-P9 is a good idea. It also works well with engine upgrade.
