Intro Squads

By TomasB, in X-Wing

I want to give some friends an intro to this game. My plan is to have a premade Imperial and Rebel squad that I can just present them with and get right into the game. I also want to make sure there are some familiar faces from the movies to give it that extra fun feeling. I have 2 starter sets, 1 x-wing, 1 ywing, 1 awing, 1 tie fighter, 1 tie advanced, and 1 tie interceptor. I might breakdown and go buy the Falcon and Slave from my FLGS soon. I was thinking Luke, Wedge, and Biggs for the Rebels. Vader, Howlrunner, and 4 Academy pilots.

What upgrades would be good for these squads? I was thinking squad leader on Vader and swarm tactics on Howlrunner. What upgrades would you recommend for the rebel list?

one X-wing and a Y-wing vs two TIEs and vader

Pilots don't really matter but maybe avoid too many upgrades (especially Luke with r2-d2)

Yup.

Avoid 100 pt lists. Avoid upgrades. Avoid formation flying most of all. I still can't do it right 10 games later.

Your Rebel List is MUCH easier to fly than the Imperial list, but either way, both are wayyyy too complicated.

Why not 2 X-Wings vs 4 Ties?

Luke + Rookie 49 vs Night Beast, Dark Curse, and Howlrunner 49.

Also, sadly, Luke with R2D2 in the late game is just gonna be frustrating.

My plan was to do the qmFFG intro 1 tie vs 2 xwing with them first. Then I was thinking a 100pt game with premade squads (no asteroids or ordnance). I guess I could try to build a middle step between those. Like 40ish point squads but no upgrades.
