Huge ships: actions and crew/team locations

By dvorm, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Equip a CR90 (huge ship rules) with both weapons engineer and sensor team. The idea is to gain two TLs within range 5 when the front section performs the TL action.

1) For the TL, you may measure range from either section. Correct?

2) Do crew and team have to be in the front section or may either or both be in the aft section?

The rules insert hasn't been released yet (neither has the CR90) so your guess is as good as mine.

1) I am not 100% sure since the CR-90 rules haven't been released but my guess is only the section with the sensor team would be able to TL at a 5. I guess we will find out soon.

2) If you look at the fore/aft section cards for the tantive the fore section has 1 crew slot and 2 team slots, and the aft section has 1 crew and 1 team slot, so you would need to pick which side you wanted them on.

I don't think the CR90 is going to have any rules we haven't already seen in the Huge ship book.

1. Yes. When you take any range based action you measure from the closest point of the ship, regardless of which section is performing the action ( page 2, right column)

2. This one is less explicit, but I don't think it matters which section the team/crew is on. It's still all one ship. The aft can provide energy that the fore uses, Limited cards apply to the ship, etc. multiple sections are broken up for targeting/damage, but it's still a single ship and any abilities the ship has still apply to the entire ship.

2. This one is less explicit, but I don't think it matters which section the team/crew is on.

In addition to your examples...

Recover lets you pick which section gets the shields back, and can even split it up, say 2 fore, 3 aft. Reinforce likewise tells you to pick which section. Clearly actions can effect either section regardless of which section preforms the action. So I'd be very surprised if the section the crew are in matters.

Because all a crew does really is provide you with a new type of action you can take.

Two associated questions, which may be due to the CR90 not having been released when this thread was started:

1- Wouldn't those provided actions only be allowed to be performed by the section they're positioned on? The fore section of the corvette can't reinforce or recover, and each section of the ship is permitted only one action.

2- Wouldn't it matter what upgrades are destroyed with a particular section of the ship?

Your CR90 gets two actions. One from the fore section (activated first), and one action from the aft section. Your fore section could choose an action from the action bar on its ship card, or an action listed on a crew/team upgrade card equipped to that section. However, the ability or effect could be applied to either section/the ship as a whole, as you see fit. Then your aft section gets to choose an action from the action bar on its ship card, or an action listed on a crew/team upgrade card equipped to that section.

Check out the Tantive IV Rulebook, pg. 4, "Performing Actions from Sections".

For example... you are not permitted to choose an action from an upgrade card equipped to your aft section during your fore section's 'perform action' step.

Additionally, it does matter what upgrades are discarded when a particular section is 'crippled'. You are not permitted to move a crew/team upgrade card from a crippled aft section, to the fore section, even if you have an available upgrade slot on the fore section.

Excuse me for my language but i'm French, and excuse me ask again.

I am not completely sure to understand. It is to be sure of me.

Crew/team effect work only for the section he is crewing or does it work for the whole ship? (han solo, gunner, droid WED-15...)

Thank you in advance for your answers.

They work for the whole ship.

So you can use WED-15 to repair either section of the ship.
