New Tantive IV Crew Cards...

By Deltmi, in X-Wing

Is this finally a reason to fly Maarek? Crits on the Huge ships?

Also i notice that Targeting Coordinator isn't huge ship only even though he uses energy... which is odd when you think about it.

Yes. With only 10 damage cards per ship deck, his ability is far, far stronger in finding the key crit you want.

with the reinforce action, getting a crit at all is very difficult. once you get into range 1-2 those quad lasers absolutely shred the small ships.

Yup, Rexlar and Maarek are both key ships to taking down the Huge ships. Maarek for crit fishing. Rexlar for adding more crits while also keeping energy generation down with an Ion Cannon.

Reinforce only affects one half the ship. It's the best use for Steele so far. I haven't played with the thing so far, but enough Ion cannons look like they could shut the Tantive down.

yes it's only one half, but to be able to choose where you fire you need to come at the thing from the side. from what i saw, you really need to come in from a blind spot (behind the engines) or it is almost certain those secondary weapons will kill you outright. of course, they cant kill an entire group of ships in one go, but then that is what the corvette will have escorts for.

Ion though, i am with you there. i think Ion Cannons will be able to neuter it, but you need three or four hits to do that, and how is an imp player going to pull that off in one turn?

And then, here comes Jaina's Light , and Maarek goes back to his corner of tears...

Nah, the fact that it needs energy makes it useless elsewhere, so you don't need an extra limitation rule on there. Same as how you don't need a limitation on stygium particle accelerator because you need a cloak action for it to function.

With Jaina's Light, do you discard that card from the game completely? Or does it get thrown back into the bottom of the damage deck? How many damage cards does it come with? You could conceivable run out of damage cards. The Vette has a lot of hull.

I just find it interesting - you could legally put the Targeting Coordinator on a small ship - it would be useless without energy clearly. I just find it odd they haven't restricted it to Huge ships only explicitly.

May I break in for a Tantive related question?

I was playing with a friend last night and he mentioned that FFG might produce an Imperial version of the Tantive later this year. Any truth to this?

Any truth to this?

We don't know.

The assumption is that FFG will release some sort of epic Imperial ship, perhaps 2. But what, or when is nothing more then guesses at this point.

An Imperial huge is very likely coming. We just don't know what ship or when.

Thank you. Please carry on with your regular discussion. (I didn't feel this question warranted a new thread).

So... no Leia or Han cards in the latest FFG preview article... I'm going to have to stick to my guns here and call the ones in this thread likely fakes.

Geordanr already has them in his Squad Builder, and he seems to have an inside line based in how quick he gets those things posted.

Iam thinking sensor team with weapons engineer and han solo could be pretty fun on a 'vette :-D

Doesn't the "Team" Category prevent any ship that doesn't have that slot from using any of the team upgrades? So no current ships would be able to use it?

Targeting Coordinator is crew, not team.

Because it will never function on a large or small ship (yet, that we know of).

TC isn't, Toryn Farr is limited to huge ships only.

The difference between the two is that TC requires you to spend 1 energy, whereas you could conceivably put Toryn in a B-Wing, choose 0 energy and still trigger PTL for instance.

SPA triggers on a cloaking or decloaking action and isn't ship-bound. ACD triggers on an attack and allows you to cloak. ACD is limited to the Phantom.

Technically you could put SPA on a Y-Wing, but why bother? :P .

How many teams are there? The Tantive IV title adds a fourth slot, but we only know of three teams.
