Non-swarm based phantom builds

What are you thinking. Will there be any competitive phantom builds that arnt swarms?

I was leaning towards whisper with VI to almos guarantee a last move. But that takes a lot of points

If there are, they will most likely include large ships to inflate the HP count.

Phantoms can fit handily into the big ship, big ship, two tie genre. Replacing either 1 of the big ships or the 2 ties.

It depends one what Wave 4 and the 2 Rebel Huge ships do to the Meta.

If the meta starts prioritizing high PS, then we are looking at the following:

Whisper + VI + Advanced Cloaking Device + Intelligence Officer

Echo + VI + Advanced Cloaking Device + Intelligence Officer

Omnicron Group + Intelligence Officer + Engine Upgrade

This will give you 2 high PS pilots and the possibility for trickery with the Intelligence Officer. If you have higher PS, your opponent's ship will move before you and you will know where it is to optimize the use of cloaking device and then barrel rolls. If your opponent has higher PS than you (that 3 xwing build, Wes/Wedge/Luke) then you will know where he will be, and consequently, decloak accordingly and then barrel or action as you see fit. Seriously, Intelligence Officer plus the decloaking mechanism is hax.

If the meta remains the same now prioritzing numbers over quality (whether at the PS1-2 range or PS3-4 range), then this is the build I would go with.

Whisper + Outmanuever + Advanced Cloaking Device

Echo + Outmanuever + Advanced Cloaking Device

Omnicron Group + Rebel Captive

In this scenario, you will always know where your opponent will be moving, so you can always get out if his arc. It will absolutely annihilate B-Wing swarms.

I run 3 interceptor builds all the time, so I could see an elite Phantom slotting in alongside some combo of Soontir, Turr, or Royal Guard as a hit and run build. Same for the Defender. I see both ships as new centerpiece options to build around in some combo.

in these hi maneuver lists you are creating what is to stop the opponent just dumping a lot of turrets into his list? IE... a bunch of ion cannons and blaster turrets.

I don't know if it has been said before (probably), but I think Enhanced Scopes is gonna be great on a high PS Phantom, especially Echo. What is gonna be hard with them is planning ahead where they will be able to decloak (no other ships or obstacle to deny it) and then what maneuver to select. A decloak block can really screw your maneuver choice, especially with Echo and his banking barrel roll. I think that going first during the activation phase will really help counter this. Combine that with the Intelligence Agent so you can see where your target will be to help select action and VI so you shoot fast. ACD so you recloak once you shoot.

You just got one of the best flanker there is and 63 pts left to build your main force.

Anyone else notice the phantom has the biggest kturn in game? After a 2 forward decloak, you can 5 kturn. Making the phantom a hellaciously fast ship at a 7kturn. Burn past leaving a sandwhich for your enemies forces.
