Short x-wing buyers guide created by contributions from the community here with pros/cons of each place:

Ebay -

Can find some great deals from many different sources. Sometimes w/ free shipping. Fairly random on price ranges depending on the current market and stock levels. Can find 15-20% off MRSP.

Amazon -

A bit more stable than ebay though you won't find as stellar deals as often. Free shipping w/ amazon prime or depending on the source. Can find 15-20% off MRSP. (added by Oddeye; Steak)

Barnes and nobles -

Usually has expansions in stock at a decent price, I have noticed the larger ships never have anything taken off the MRSP.. can be a bit more pricey. (added by Oddeye)

Local gaming shops -

They come in many flavors and we all love them. It's really great to support your LGS as that is where you more than likely play. Typically has a bit higher price than you might find on ebay or amazon though. Some have discount offers on certain stock or if paying in cash. Typically 2/3 MSRP though Imperial Aces is a little higher. Shipping is free from US$99 up and comes by UPS (shipping can be a bit higher outside US). Smaller orders can ship very reasonably using USPS for a few dollars, less than 7 on every order so far, shipments arrive quickly. I try to throw my LGS a bone when I can, but they pretty much charge MSRP. I'm finding that amazon is usually a solid 15 to 20 percent off with many options for free shipping.

Ok I'll talk about MinatureMarket. I have bought nearly my entire collection through this source. Typically I pay 2/3 MSRP though my copy of Imperial Aces was a little higher. Shipping is free from US$99 up and comes by UPS. Smaller orders can ship very reasonably using USPS for a few dollars, less than 7 on every order so far, and the stuff arrives here in Colorado within four days of me pushing the buy button. My FLGS only carries magic so I only have MM and B&K and MM always beats B&K on price.

MM did not have Y wings in stock for a few months around and after December 2013 but they seem to have sorted that out. I may buy a 3rd from them some day.

I buy from both csi and mm! Both are about 2/3 of the cost from lgs. But I do buy mgt from them and some gaming supplies. But I play xwing at home with friends and make it a day party!!! Food, themed music and sometimes alcohol.

I feel guilty playing at lgs. Inflation and gas prices make me budget myself.

But mm and csi are American stores! So I'm still supporting!

They just have more buying power!

Fishpond have wave 4 mini's for $16.5 NZD. p&p inclusive. Gutted I haven't known about book depository as I gave been spending more than I need to on miniatures.

I tend to use mightyape.co.nz or nzgameshop.co.nz who ship from the UK and that normally takes a day or two longer than to ship from Auckland somehow, I have no clue how they manage to ship so fast. They must have a tardis.....

Agreed with Stelar 7 on this, specially the packed, I live in Chile and when I received my last packet (Advanced, Imp ACes and Y-wing) Nothing came with any kind of damage neither the small boxes.

The shipping outside US is not cheap but it is acceptable.

Personally, I buy from FLGS or Amazon Prime. Since I run tourneys for my LGS, they give me a 15-20% discount, which once you add tax back to it, makes a small expansion about 13 bucks. While I can get them for 10 bucks on MM, in order to make it "cheaper" I have to buy more than 100 bucks to get the free shipping. Or I could buy it on Amazon Prime for 12 bucks and free shipping.

So unless it's something I'm worried about selling out (W1 reprints) or a spur of the moment purchase (second YT), I try to stick with FLGS.

For big bulk orders I go CSI for the 30% discount. For smaller bulk orders (less than $75) I go with Amazon and their near 30% discount. I tend to buy a ship or two every couple of weeks from LGS as well as all card sleaves. I did however purchase over $100 worth of ships at my LGS when they where running a buy 2 get 1 free promo. Which is essentially 30%. I'll buy mt templates from Team Covenant as a shout out and maybe a couple of ships as well. They are a big part of the community and I'd like to support them.

I have had a LOT of luck with Craigslist. Have gotten large fleets for pennies on the dollar by haggling. Exp. 1 of each of the large ships 2 core sets and 3 of each small ships. I talked him down to $95 bucks. Deals are out there, just don't get killed.

Some American game shops ship to Canada but usually at crazy shipping costs.

Amazon.ca has ships for sale at MSRP or over but they are usually only being sold through Amazon not from Amazon, so no free shipping.

Cheers for the heads up Stegocent, i have heard some bad comments about Fishpond and i just looked them up on PriceSpy - 90% of their feedback is negative! Mostly about the time it takes to get orders or stating they have a product in stock then weeks later stating it's no longer in stock... and their customer relations are rubbish.

Think i'll have to look elsewhere for Wave 4 mini's and cancel my current order.

So, i went to Mighty Ape and asked them to beat the Fishpond price, which they did! I have now cancelled my order with Fishpond and have placed an order with Mighty Ape for 1 each of wave 4 at $15.99 (normally $24.99 ea) Only catch is they will only sell one of each at that price (might have to use the wife's account..)

If your not from NZ this wont be of use to you as P&P can be very pricy.

I used to order from Cool Stuff Inc a lot. I lived near their first brick & mortar store for a while and it was a great place. They had a perfect customer rating for a while, but I haven't dealt with them since it started going downhill (which I imagine has a lot to do with their expansion, both online and additional physical stores: which means more employees, not all of whom turn out to be so great).

I stopped ordering from CSI (despite the small customer loyalty discount I racked up) when Miniature Market's prices started getting more competitive. Then MM began a loyalty points program, too, as noted above. I typically make a couple large orders (for free shipping) a year through MM, for the last few years, and I've always been 100% satisfied with them.

All that said, so far 100% of my X-Wing collection has come from my FLGS. The owner is an awesome guy, and he started a membership program that includes benefits of 35% off when paying cash. So not only do I get better prices than online 2 miles from my house, I get to use my store credit from tournament winnings (I usually turn a $5 entry fee into about $15-20 credit) on top of the discount! Oh yeah, and support an awesome local business!
