Scenario H-1. Escape from Hoth Mission

By Kpuc2, in X-Wing Rules Questions

I'm trying to figue out the rules for the H-1 mission. The rules say the mines are not obstacles. Does that mean they do not blow up if your ships hit them? I understand the way the Empire can choose 1 mine at the end of the round to explode, but it's not clear to me whether they explode upon an ”overlap."

Logically, I say of course they explode! They're mines! But rules aren't clear.

Anyone have some insight?

If they are not obstacles and the scenario rules do not say anything happens when you overlap them, nothing happens when you overlap them. They are remote activated, not proximity triggered.

Thanks for gettin back to me Rekkon.

Yeah. That's what I thought. I think we are going to house rule that they're also triggered by contact. (Just cuz we can.). Maybe not for the GR-75, but with the small star fighters we will.

In the rules, it says the mines must be spread Range 1-2 of each other. Doesn't that just mean at least Range 2? And rolling possibley 6 attack dice at range one with a damage effect is pretty serious. That can do a lot of damage. I can see how turning those mines quickly would become a major issue.

No it means at maximum range 2, not in contact with each other (range 0)

The wording is "anywhere in the play area that is not at range 1-2 of another mine token or any edge". So outside range 2. This is harder than it sounds like on a 3'x3' area...

When we played, and I was the Empire, that mine went off as the Transport pretty much flew right over it in desperation to try to get off the map... and the Transport took 5 hits from the 6 dice. That finished off the Space Whale.
