Rebel synergy build

By draugoner1, in X-Wing

I want to know if this is any good. Help me out guys!

Kyle katarn+Moldy crow+ Ion turret(28)

Garven Dries(26)

Dutch Vander + Ion turret(27)

Prototype pilot(17)

total- 100 points

Im thinking of just getting rid of the prototype pilot to get room for extra upgrades and initiative

thanks in advance!

Give Kyle a blaster turret, along with Opportunist and Recon.

Dutch can hand out more TLs with a R5-K6.

Drop the A wing and upgrade Gaven with R2-D2 and an Engine Upgrade.

No. Bad Stone. You don't unironically recommend R5-K6. ;)

Seriously, R5-K6 is not worth the points, even on Dutch. Especially with all the new Astromechs to play with. Heck, give Dutch R2-D6 and now he gets an EPT. You could even consider something crazy on him, like Determination or Veteran Instincts.

I don't like VI on this list, as currently they are all PS6.

Dutch is all about handing out TLs. TLs for everyone = dead Ties.

Who's going to do the actual killing in that squad?

Who's going to do the actual killing in that squad?

Who's going to do the actual killing in that squad?

Kinda what I was thinking. Synergy works to a point. This seems like over kill. Gotta lose one of the names I think and get some firepower in there.

Trust me, this list blows things up!

You see the threesome of Kyle, Garven, and Dutch but normally they have a few more upgrades on them.

The way Kyle is often seen is with the Recon Specialist to go with the Moldy Crow to make sure he gets plenty of Focus tokens to use or pass out. Because of its Focus tokens the Blaster Turret is often a consideration on Kyle especially when a force needs more firepower.

Garven with Kyle is some great synergy even without giving Garven anything special.

It's actually the third leg in a 666 squad that has the most wiggle room. Besides Dutch you may also want Ibtisam in there instead. The TLs you can get with Dutch are nice as it the potential control from an Ion Turret but the B-Wing can give you more firepower.

R5-K6 needs to be sent to the scrap heap. Never ever use this droid. He is an Imperial spy in your midst who will sabotage you at best.

He is a member of the rebel alliance and a traitor. TAKE HIM AWAY.

I had a lot of fun, and some reasonable success, with a similar list at a recent mini-tournament. I don't own a HWK, so the Kyle option is out, but instead I took Wedge for the killing power, and swarm tactics so that Garven can shoot first and pass focus to Wedge. It meant I couldn't fit in the Ion turrets, but I didn't feel I needed them. I put an R2 unit in the Y so that he can fly in formation with the Xs.

I lost my first game because I hadn't figured out how to use the A properly and just flew it into enemy attack arcs before I'd even brought the rest of the squadron into range (yes, I am new), but then won the other 2 games easily once I'd figured out that I needed to keep the A close until the whole squadron engaged, then I could do crazy stuff with him to get round behind and cause distractions or block up the enemy where I needed them.

Garven shoots first, with TL and Focus, and usually shreds through a ship's focus or evade tokens, leaving them wide open to Wedge, who also has a TL and focus and just annihilates things. If that doesn't do enough, dutch and the A can chip in with the odd extra point of damage that's usually enough to take things down. The list was fantastic at taking down small ships - even the TIE swarm I faced as it can usually take down a couple a turn. The game I lost was against Chewie in Falcon, so I'd like to see how that would have gone if I'd known what I was doing with the A.

I can't wait to use the list again.

R3-A2 is actually a nice droid on Dutch. The ability to stress and then Ion a target can be gold. Obviously you need to have your target for stress in the primary fire arc, but if you get to use it in 1 or 2 critical moments, it is awesomely effective.

Gold you say, could that be the reason he is in Gold Squadron? Dun Dun dun!!

+1 to using opportunist and the blaster turret. In my experience most opponents underestimate the HWK - they certainly don't expect it to be the main threat.

Also Garven and Kyle have great synergy. The ability to generate and pass around focus allows for a great deal of tactical flexibility. I like flying the pair of them with Biggs.
