help me complete my squad

By Darth evil, in X-Wing

Ok i have tried quite a few builds since Aces came out, but nothing i've used has given me consistent results. now the base is

Royal Guard pilot with PTL and Stealth x2

now it's the support i've had issues with, i've tried the Firespray, more Squints, adding in tie fighters,a shuttle etc.

is there something else i could try that i haven't thought of ?

Why not drop the stealth and go 4x royal guard with PtL. It's a nasty alpha strike list.

And when it hits, it hits like a sack of bricks to the side of the head!

How do you intend to use that 56 point pair?

When it comes to filling out those points I'm thinking a Firespray (maybe Kath + Gunner + VI) or a trio of TIE Fighers (Howlie + two). After Wave 4 hits I'd think about a Defender. If you wanted another pair of Interceptors I'd cut the Stealth.

I'm surprised to hear that you couldn't make a Firespray work. It's hands down one of the single best ships in the game. What setups have you tried?

i've tried 4 RG+PTL, and i found it too fragile. The Firespray build was BH+Gunner+seismic+Engine. I have all kinds of trouble with large bases and i think in 1 game i hit 4 asteroids, i'm much more comfortable with small ships.

Equally fragile to xxxx but more manoeuvrable.

That seems like an excessive number of points spent on a simple Bounty Hunter. Gunner is good, but I wouldn't bother with Seismic Charges on a ship with that low of a PS, and Expert Handling beats Engine Upgrade if you have an EPT slot. Recon Spec is also very good on Firesprays.

I'd say use what you're comfortable with, but the Firespray is well worth learning how to play properly.

The Three Amegios:

Vader+EU

Soontir+PtL+TC

Carnor+hull+stealth

@Stone37, although it would most likely be a good squad it's not very helpful because i'm not looking for an entire new squad.

Well, Vader does make a pretty good wingman for Interceptors. I usually fly Vader with Homing Missiles and Engine Upgrade.

29 Darth Vader

5 Homing Missiles

4 Engine Upgrade

22 Royal Guard Pilot x2

3 Push the Limit

3 Stealth Device

94/100

Add Royal Guard TIE titles to both Interceptors accompanied by extra upgrades of your choice. Targeting Computers would leave you enough room for Swarm Tactics on Vader, or you could just use Hull Upgrades.

Alternatively, you could fly Backstabber and Dark Curse for PS6 across the board and still have 12 points left over for an extra 3 points of upgrade per ship.

22 Royal Guard Pilot x2

3 Push the Limit

3 Hull Upgrade

3 Stealth Device

0 Royal Guard TIE

16 Backstabber

3 Hull Upgrade / Stealth Device

16 Dark Curse

3 Hull Upgrade / Stealth Device

Ive run a very similar list to this one previously and now its my 'go-to' list (of course it helps that I won the first tournament I went to with it and went 4-0). So to the OP, I would recommend trying out the following list:

RGP + PTL + SD

RGP + PTL

Backstabber

Dark Curse

BSP + VI

So 5 ships, all at PS6 - which is great for choosing who to move first, and shoot first. The list pretty much came straight from the Scum and Villainy podcast where they were looking at an uploaded list on TeamCovenant (I just moved the Stealth Device from Dark Curse to one of the RGP pilots).

The list was called 'Sinister Sixes' and ive gotta say I love the name :P
