Eh what? I figured they were the same as normal big ship bases, you just used different pegs. Bit disappointed, seems like an unnecessary new (more things to carry, more things to break that are harder to replace).

The ship is larger and weighs more. It needs a physically larger base on the bottom of the peg to be stable. If the center of gravity falls outside of the peg then it will fall over. My YT-1300 models already teeter on the edge of this from time to time.

I get the rings underneath, but why make the connector incompatible? They could have started to phase out the old kind and replace them with this kind, so you could stop carrying around the old kind and just carry a few of these most of the time and be able to field huge or large ships on them.

My x-wing case(s) will need upgrading to accomadate the transport anyways.. whats another compartment for the pegs? Would be easier if they were all the same form factor though..

Thematically it's nicer to have the Huge Ships physically higher, if I remember correctly the pegs are taller than 2x Large Ship pegs.

Looking at this picture, you can see the fighters are have 2 pegs, but the Huge ships are quite a bit taller then them.

Not true, they look the same, but try putting one of the Huge ship posts onto one of your old Large ship square bases. You will see that they do not fit. I'm with the OP...I wish they would have made them completely compatible.

On the other hand, you can take a huge ship square base and it's extra tall peg and put a Large ship on it. The cardboard token is a little loose on the base, but it works and looks pretty cool.

Nope the bases lookalike. But have different connectors. When I bought mine. The first thing I did was put the bases I'm my large base compartment. When I got to my game I spent 10 minutes trying to get one on the wrong base. Finally I checked through my other bases and found two different connectors on them. That's when I realized I needed a compartment for huge ship bases
