If X-Wing was a D&D game, what builds would be different classes?

By DraconPyrothayan, in X-Wing

I had this idea from a different thread, explaining how to fly an Interceptor.

Basically, Interceptors are Rogues. They're great at close range due to their tumbling abilities, and good from a distance, but heaven help you if the barbarian catches you when you're flat-footed.

Similarly, the Tie Advanced is probably a Monk: Hard to kill, fun to fly, but ultimately kind of bad.

The B-Wing is probably a Ranger, as you can either be a close-range monster, or a long-range sniper.

What of the rest, though?

X & Y are standard Fighter types. Muscle that packs a decent punch. TIE fighters remind me of the arcane spellcaster types. By themselves, they're not much of a threat. When they're part of a solid group, though, they can be dangerous. The pilots who pass Focus/TL remind me of clerics, buffing the other party members.

Bombers could be like your Mage type. A few really good spells to hurt your opponent, then you're pretty much done until the next fight...provided you could rest in between.

I find a-wings to be a rogue. Not much of a frontal attacker but very dangerous when they hit from behind and hard to catch.

I find interceptors to be the ranger. They can hit hard but they don't have much in armor but make for it in their defensive skills.

A tie fighter is a low level fighter or a goblin. One is weak but they fight in large numbers.

B-wings are the tank fighters. They have the heaviest armor and the biggest weapon. But are not very mobile or subtle at all.

An x-wing is the stock fighter. Well armed and well armored, but still able to move around.

Lambdas are Paladins - wading into the thick of things and buffing their allies while dishing out quite a lot of punishment.

HWK is a bard - everyone like the idea of pimping the team but no real impact.

The YT is clearly a whirlwind barb.

The Phantom has to be the backstabbing thief (but with a weapon that is really powerful due to the four red dice), vanishing into the shadows after each strike.

Transport = Gelatinous Cube?

Transport with Farr would be a thief, robbing people of their actions.

Firespray would be a berzerker.

TIE would be bugbear.

That doesn't work - who is the gelatinous cube then? Shuttle? We have to have one. And magic missiles proton torpedoes.

I'm going to make some space dragons to start flying against my ships: kick this game up a notch.

Side note: how come nobody has made a movie about space dragons yet? Sitting on an untapped market right there.

Brilliant! I frequently observe that dragons make everything better, how could space be any different?

So nobody has mentioned Backstabber is clearly a rogue? Sad sad day.

Jedi = paladin or cleric

Wild Jedi - Druids

R2d2 = cleric (specifically for x wing).

C3po = useless familiar

The Rebels are ALL Lawful Good Fighters, the Empire Chaotic Evil Fighters.

Disagreed. Strongly. Rebellion is at the core of the Chaotic Alignment.

Similarly the empire's motives of restoring order as the old republic descended into chaos smacks of classic lawful evil

Y-wings are the clerics of x-wing. Tanks that can set up their wingman and buff themselves with their droids. And can't dodge a **** thing...

Yes the Empire is Lawful evil. The Emperor has strict laws and the swiftest most brutal punishment to those that break the law. There is a rigid hierarchy.

Rebel seems more diverse. The higher ups like Ackbar and Leia being lawful good while Han Solo and Lando being more chaotic good with breaking the rules whenever they feel the situation calls or it. Luke seems more neutral good with following the rules but not being rigid with them.

Was not Gamara / Gihdora, a 3 headed, plasma breathing, space dragon? I would say it has already been done :P .

Also, I would say the Phantom is more of a 2nd AD&D (or Hackmaster) Assassin, than a mere rouge.

Headhunter is a Warrior (non-NPC class used for advancement of most humanoid and monstrous humanoid races in 3 and 3.5). It's basic and weaker than a Fighter.

Gamera was a flying space TURTLE (ghztroc anyone?) and Ghidorah was a flying three-headed space DRAGON. Get your facts straight (Ghidorah was also 10x cooler than Gamera)

I would have said the Z was a zero level character, but yeah, warrior works too
