Hi everyone, I was considering doing a repaint of an a-wing in green sqn colors. I've seen images of them with either red or green stripes, does anyone have a reference for which would be true to the "history" of the squadron? I'm thinking they weren't actually painted green.

I have red that in the original script the rebel ships that participated in the attack on the death star were considered to be part of the green squadron. But because green would not work well when also using a green screen, they changed it to red for the filming. I think you can find all the info in wookiepedia.

Same reason the Episode IV TIEs are grey while those in V-VI are bluish. A partial justification for this is that Tycho Celchu (whose A-Wing you get the clearest look at) was assigned to Green Squadron at the last minute due to mechanical problems, and was flying a reserve ship.

I don't have a reference, but after some trepidation repainted one of mine with a Privateer Press p3 paint, Iosan Green. It was super easy, so long as you're slow and careful, and I'm really happy with it. Some pictures are a battle report I did.

I recently painted up a couple of A-wings in green colors. They're not supposed to be 'green squadron' per se, but they might help you visualize.

edit* I'll also go ahead and toot my own horn and point out the squadron insignia next to the cockpit. It's something I've started doing on all my rebel ships; each different coloring is getting its own squadron insignia. In this case the insignia is a moon in front of a green planet, for 'Blackmoon' squadron. I'm having a lot of fun with this and I recommend trying it out.
