Painting - The five board project

By sigzo, in X-Wing

Hey all, I work part-time at a local gaming store and I'm going to try to get X-Wing going there, and as a part of that I'm going to paint up five gaming boards for the game.

In here I'm going to allow people to follow the project (if anyone is interested that is). So I hope you guys will enjoy it as much as I'll enjoy doing it :)

First up getting boards in the right size, I choose to use masonite, and paint them black.

Next job was to create a space to paint them as I'm not an artist and have no workshop. Improvising with the wife got me this.

Then to try it out I brought out a old black cardboard I had and threw some paint on it. It's about 80% of the actual size and was a bit banged up from storage so there are scratches on it. Didn't mind that for testing.

Not to pleased with the results, but It's a start and I'll get better of it.....hopefully :)

You should do one of the boards in the style of the death star's surface ;)

The pictures look pretty awesome.

I'm also playing around with a Death Star surface idea. I'm wondering what relief to use, if any. Maybe stuff that's 1-2mm tall with some shading.

Anyway, I'll be watching this thread.
