How to use the new Rebel Transport

By Soss, in X-Wing

I just got my first game in with my new Transport and I liked it. I had a couple questions to see what other people think. I see it a a great support ship.

I used a little bit of Coordinated Actions and Jam Actions. What do you think is better to focus on? I was using the coordinated actions ealier in the game and later I foudn I was jamming more. I also found Slicer tools to be good but not that great.

If you are playing against the Transport would you target it first or just leave it? Taking it out ealry would help to limt the extra actions and getting to many strees tokens, but it can't really do any damage on it's own.

Here is a link to the battle report if anyone wants to check it out.

I played the transport today in an epic game that was truly epic. My transport demoralized my opponent more than anything else. Toryn Farr was probably the nastiest thing that I used. Stripping actions away from ships was key to victory and was absolutely devastating. I also used Comms Booster or something like that to good effect to negate a stress and to gain a focus. I only got to ram 1 ship though. Once it took heavy fire though it was toast. Overall it was amazingly worth the 44 points I spent on it.

In my game my opponent didn't target it, later he sad he would target it first next time. I wonder how they will do versus heavy fire. I want to keep it cheap but there are so many good cards to add to it.

I played a game vs a transport and took a variety of TIEs and a BH and Did fairly well. The transport's slow movement and turning allowed me to have a much more realistic flanking action from a group of 5 interceptors

Did you target it first and kill it or later? How easy was it to take down? Did you win the game?

Definitely worth the points, though I was far and away more demoralized by those pesky, seemingly immortal A-Wings. Still, it was a great game. Looking forward to another one next weekend!

I played a game last week where I squished Darth Vader like a bug. Pretty awesome.

I like using 2 both with Frequenzy Jammer and Slicer Tools I have both jam serperate ships but use the FJ to give a 3rd ship 1 if not both the extra stress. Then those 3 are gonna be trying to get rid of those stress. I then next turn use Slicer Tools on all 3 from both transports....1 damage to each with a stress x2 equals 3 ships near death and not a shot fired!

I built my transport to hand out actions for my team with comm booster and coordinate and to take away tokens with Torryn Farr. I also ran over an academy pilot and Major Rymher who was fully loaded with ordinance which was really sweet.

This would be my dream, awesome.

I think the Transport could effectively clog lanes and ramming other ships could work out more with proper planning. I ran over Boba Fett in my game mainly due to him not really having to many options to fly to.

2 transports would work out good. I just worry that with so many points placed in 2 ships that have no attack it could leave you stranded. The Jam action with slicer works well but 2 slicers would be awesome.

The transport is a ginormous support ship. Think HWK-290 writ large. When you field one, you're giving your opponent a tough decision to make - focus the transport with all guns and take a beating from your other ships for a round or two, or ignore it and be prepared to deal with some very annoying abilities.

It reminds me of facing down a naked Jan Ors (as pleasant as that prospect might otherwise be). She does little enough on her own, but if you ignore her it's still going to hurt all match long.
