Epic game with Transport

By Soss, in X-Wing Battle Reports

Here is a battle report of my Rebels versus my friends Imperials. It is a Epic sized game that is actually 301 points and I got to use my new Rebel Transport for the first time. Over all lots of fun and I liked the transport.

So a couple questions about the Transports.

1) What would be your favortie build? I see it as a support ship and I used Jam a lot. I think keeping them cheap would be good.

2) If you are playing against a Transport what would you do? Would you target it first or just leave it alone? My friend didn't target it a t all and after the game thought he should of took it out first.

Thanks

Thanks for the Battle Report. :)

My favorite transport build at the moment:

GR-75 Medium Transport (30)
Comms Booster (4)
Comms Booster (4)
Engine Booster (3)
Bright Hope (5)

Total: 46

I have it in the front of my fleet, using the Reinforce action on the front. That means that any attack against it has two evade results. Further, since you are using the action every round on that, you can still use energy on the Comms Booster twice a round. This lets you clear all stress off a friendly ship and give them a focus token. Especially great if you have ships with ordnance, as they can target lock, then get a focus for a more potent strike. Finally, engine booster allows you to slightly change your speed every turn as long as you have the energy to spend on it. This gives you a much better chance at crushing something or adjusting to danger. At 46 points, it's expensive, but not cripplingly so.

If I may ask what did you make the board or of?

I'm thinkingof making one, and I really liked what you did with that one.

Please pm me what you used for material, and what type of paint you used

Thanks

What did you yhink of the rules? We have only played one game with the transport but found the rules awkward and cumbersome. They are what they are and will certainly not be changed now but I do not think they capture the flavor of these large ships well. In FFGs defense, I have yet to see any rule sets that reflect both detailed fighter rules and capital ships and represent both well.

I used 3/4 MDF boards and painted it black with latex paint. I then got some Gloss spray paint and used that for the nebula look. I then used white and then yellow paint watered down and just shook it at the board to make the stars. It took maybe 30 minutes to make.

The rules are different and I get that it feels different but I think that is to represent it being a transport ship. With no attacks it seems weird, so it is only there as a support ship. I used the Jam action and the Coordinate action and Coms Booster. Beyond that I am sure what else to do with it.

I just wonder if someone targets it first, how easy will it be to kill and would it be worth it?
