Hawk crew ability

By dukewolf, in X-Wing

One of the crew abilities on the hawk allows you to use an action to look at an opponents maneuver dial. Why is this worth taking? At that point all the maneuvers would have been set? Sorry if this is an obvious question. I only have a couple of battles fought.

I believe you are referring to intelligence agent? 1st it does not count as an action since it does not say "action" in bold on the card. Second it's useful if you want to know if you should barrel roll or reposition to stay out of its arc but still have it in yours.

Intelligence agent resolves after all dials are set. You want to know the maneuver of a ship which moves after you. When choosing your action you have that particular piece of information only because of the agent. This is particularly useful if you can still adjust your position (barrel roll, boost, navigator) to block the "target" and force an overlap.

Outer rim smuggler with intelligence agent, navigator and anti pursuit lasers is fun to fly. Not very competitive but fun. Use three of them for maximum effect.

Furthermore, it allows you to pick other actions like boost or focus. If you're not sure where someone will be, you evade. If you are sure you won't be in their arc, then you can focus for a more offensive bid. You could also use that knowledge to barrel roll into blocking positions, or if you have a shuttle, you could use an Intell Agent and Navigator card to try to block (and maybe even some anti-pursuit lasers?)

Ok sounds like this will become much more effective as I get other ships

Agree with all of the posts. I still havent found a use for flight instructor on ANY ship

in conjunction with Sensor Jammers you can get startling longevity out of the Shuttle.

Really? I think it's amazing if possibly a point too expensive.

its a bit cost prohibitive. if im going to spend that kind of points on a crew slot for the shuttle im going to get more bang for my buck with something like gunner
