SPace combat question

By malauzon, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Little question:

When doing space combat, do I need to add the range difficulty like in ground combat ? I am wondering because od " Thanks to advance targetting computers installed in most starships. the range of a shot has no bearing on the attack difficulty" (p.235, first paragraph)

Let say, I want to attack an other ship who is at long range. Do I need to add 3 difficulty dices ?

Thanks

Nope, the difficulty is entirely based upon silhouette comparison. :)

(Range for each weapon is only a factor in how far the weapon is effective.)

Another question:

The book: "When attacking a ship silhouette of 4 or lower, the defender chooses which defense zone the attack hits".

So if i have a Skiprayblactboat I can rerout all shield to AFT and always have defense 3 for every attacks ?

Thanks

You sure can.

The only hole in this idea is that if the enemy successfully uses Gain the Advantage against you, they select which of your defense zones to attack through, and you'll have 0 Defense on the Forward until you take the maneuvers to reallocate your shields again.

Also, as a side note, p.226 says "the maximum amount of defense a ship or vehicle can have in any of its defense zones is four points, regardless of size."

So there is a limit to how much deflectors can be angled and increased.

I believe, according to the book, that you can only angle/redirect 1 point of shielding in a maneuver...

True but once the defectors are angled a direction they stay that way until you change them. So it may take a few rounds but you can stack 'em high if you want.

Another question.

Can you do a maneuver, an action and a maneuver (with strain) ?

Let say move in short range, attack, move out to medium range ?

Yes with a proviso. The ship has to be silhouette 4 or smaller.

To clarify, the Silhouette 4 restriction for two maneuvers applies only to Pilot Only maneuvers. Things like Aiming and whatnot are not restricted this way.
