Eagle 20, Fox 2!

By SpectreSix, in X-Wing

I know I did a different Independence Day themed thread on this forum, but the Z-95s got me thinking. What about using a couple of squadrons of Z-95s with an additional missile slot to take down a disabled Star Destroyer, all the while dodging swarms of TIE Fighters?

Wouldn't that be cool? I'll have to find the notebook I wrote it down in, but once I do, I'll get it here.

bit backwards though, shields on the good guys instead. Also I love that I instantly got the reference.

Yeah, but you'd need a mandatory Munitions Failure on the first go. ;)

You also need to add Arvil, "Hey boys remember me?"

I'm baaaaaaaack - **** fine actor. Won an oscar for his work in National Lampoons

One small error. As he was trying to fire what looks to be an AIM-120 AMRAAM missile, the call should have been "Eagle 20, Fox 3". The "Fox" codes are as follows:

Fox One - Indicates launch of a semi-active radar guided missile (such as the AIM-7 Sparrow).

Fox Two - Indicates launch of an infrared-guided missile (such as the AIM-9 Sidewinder).

Fox Three - Indicates launch of an active radar guided missile (such as the AIM-120 AMRAAM and AIM-54 Phoenix).

Maybe 'Fox Two' was crop duster code for 'ramming speed!!!!!!' Yea, I'm pretty sure I read that somewhere...

That kind of brings up the question of why they had long range AMRAAMs equipped in the first place... apparently they are usable at range 1, 2, and 3. :D

You also need to add Arvil, "Hey boys remember me?"

"Hello boys, I'm baaaaack!"

"Alright you alien @$$#0les! In the words of my generation: UP YOURS!!!"

"I picked a hell of a day to quit drinkin'."

There was one line that made that whole film...

*punch* "Welcome to Earth."

All those TINY air to air missiles wouldnt have done squat to those large alien ships. But once the shields were down, bring on the nukes!

Great movie. Instanly recognized the reference too. Awesome.

Good to know.

Having no military experience I thought "fox" was just a nickname for a missile and "2" was just the missile number. So I always thought he meant Eagle 20 is shooting missile 2.

As to why he might of got it wrong, I give two reasons:

1. He's a crop duster, not a highly trained air force pilot.

2. He's an alcoholic who admits...

"I picked a hell of a day to quit drinkin'."

Actually I think that Randy Quaid's character was an ex military pilot who flew in the Viet Nam conflict.

Both true, but there were decades of drunken stupor, and apparently some alien probing, between thst time and his screen time.

Can't wait to see the alien probing upgrade card picture

i was going to put an image from south park up, but I decided that I didn't want to upset anyone.

What are aliens looking for in there?

Aside from learning about someone's diet I can't see what can be learnt from shoving a probe up somebody's......

Well if they excrete differently, say through the same orifice they eat with, then a backside could be just the genetic upgrade they are looking for. I know that would be on my list of upgrades if I didn't already have one.

There were a million small errors. I don't remember a single use of the fox codes in that movie that was accurate. You also can't arm weapons while you're sitting on the runway.

You could write a book about all the mistakes in that movie—even without the aliens.

Now that's what I call a close encounter..

I wonder what the new ID4 movies will be like....
