FYI: Sorry if this is old news, but I noticed FFG has put Rebel Aces on the July 2014 sell sheet for retailers.
I'd expected the Aces to be released at Gen Con in August. This makes me wonder what's in store for us at the con...

Edited by KeokiInteresting. I would've thought an August release as well. Guess the floodgates are open.
Can't wait to get hold of them! The sooner the better.
One of the places I buy from has August down for their arrival.
Edit: I'm in the UK tho, if that makes a difference?
Edited by bwingstrikeThe con would probably have imperials huge ships
Crap, the Robotech mini game I joined the Kickstarter for ships soon, I don't have enough time for this many games!

I have been planning on making RDF and Zentradi factions for X-Wing once I get my minis, since I don't really expect the RT rules to be very good.
Geez, if that's true, we'll have gotten new product every month for five months straight. Kinda overwhelming after the first year and a half of this game.
Maybe making up for the delay of wave one reprints to retailors?

Sunday night I plan to spray prime my Rebel fighters and do Max/Miriya/Skull leader paint schemes on some Xwings along with some Shadow Alpha schemes on my Awings.

My friend's wife does a lot of ordering from Chinese factories for production runs of clothing. It's way easier, and vastly more productive, to order a factory's entire manufacturing time for several months in a row and cover lots of items, than it is to pick a run time for a small number of items, then try to get back in again a few months later.
I'm wondering if this is what FFG may have done... had a contract for the core sets, and maybe some Wave 1 items, then needed to wait for the factory to open up production time to get their new items in. There's been a pretty much non-stop running since Imperial Aces came out.
In all honesty, I hope there's a bit of a break now until the inevitable Wave 5 announcement along with any other huge ships that may be coming down the pipe. Like so many others, I can't keep up with this constant barrage of releases - in either monetary or game mechanics ways. It's so much so fast, it's difficult to absorb and find the synergy for my builds.

Geez, people complained when releases were slow and delayed, and now they're complaining because they're too fast?!?!?! If you want to see a ridiculous release schedule designed to suck money, look at Attack Wing...
Before anyone gets bent out of shape, I'm being a little bit facetious. Honestly I think it's great that FFG seems to have gotten most of the kinks worked out in their manufacturing/distribution pipelines after being blindsided by the enormous popularity of this game. And I agree it is a bit overwhelming, but it is also kind of exciting! FFG seems to be listening to what many players want - formats beyond the 100-point dogfights - and have responded with Huge ships, Epic play, and Cinematic scenarios that are really challenging on their own but really shine when they are linked together as a campaign. At the same time they are giving us great new ships with interesting mechanics that are adding to the basic dogfight game without obviously unbalancing it.
Christian Petersen said in an interview in April at ICv2:
"All I can say is 2014 is going to be my favorite year of all our Star Wars content that we’ve put out; and there’s some new and exciting stuff in that category coming... Specifically, you’ll see some very exciting momentum behind what we’re doing with X-Wing."
With 2014 not even half over, I'm looking forward to seeing what the rest of the year brings...
Edited by ziggy2000It will probably just get delayed and miss Gencon anyway...
I will believe it when it is in stores.
Glad this thread exists as I was going to see what the consensus of opinion would be for the remainder of the year, can we realistically expect a wave 5 to be in retailers before Christmas?

No. I wouldn't expect to see wave 5 until next summer.

I think we'll get Imperial huge ships in late October or early November, and we'll get Wave 5 in February. I think FFG wants a new product release every three months for X-Wing. (Imperial Aces was meant for December, Rebel huge ships were meant for February and March, Wave 4 is coming out presumably on time in June, Rebel Aces seems to be ahead of schedule for July).
Let's not forget about the Y-Wing / TIE Advanced twin pack being released next month, or the Large Ship Aces announcement at Gen Con.

Depending on the strength of the alliance between FFG, Lucasfilm and Disney, I'd be of a mind that we'd see something released around the time Star Wars: Rebels goes to broadcast this fall. Disney really is the master of the movie tie-in for merchandising.
I'd forgotten that Rebels was being released soon. I suppose that means that wave 5 may well be the end of this year and include the Ghost plus any notable ships from the new series.
Good news! Now our wallets and storage solutions will continue to cry for relief!

My wallet will continue to cry for relief (especially with the current release rate), but my current storage solution is cheap and scalable.
That noise you hear gentlemen is the sound of my checking account crying in agony as it takes another stake to the heart (seriously so many releases!!)
Oh and the second cries you hear is the sound its screaming as FFG uses a sledgehammer to make sure they make the releases so cool I cant resist.....just had to make my 2 favorite fighters the Rebels Aces set....sneaky lol

I been waiting too long I forgot I got one too. I got the battlecry.
I think we'll see this like in Oct 2014. Not soon. They over promised and under deliver on the ETA. But I rather them take their time.
