If Wave 4 releases before the end of June, I say let them play.
Poll regarding allowing Wave 4 at Regionals
Please try to keep discussion to the other thread and just post a Yes or No and a short bit of reasoning. If you want to discuss things, please use the other thread so that this one stays fairly clean and easy to read.
I vote no to allowing Wave 4 being legal at regionals. Regardless of what the new tournament rules may say, some players will have a distinct advantage by having access to Wave 4 ships while other players do not. This comes off as unfair and unsportsmanlike as having ships not accessible to everyone gives a competitive advantage to some while denying that advantage to others. This seems to go against FFG's tournament philosophy as seen by their current prizes at large, competitive tournaments in the past. Many prizes from these tournaments are simply acrylic range rulers, tokens, etc. and not unique ships/pilots with unique abilities that may confer a competitive advantage to a select few, as many other competitive games are apt to do. I feel it's FFG's best interest to disallow Wave 4 ships (or at very least those available from the Assault at Imdaar Alpha event) at regionals until made easily available to the public at large.
YES!!!!!
Wave 4 is neither Epic or on the ban list, thus they are legal.
I vote yes.
Almost all the information on wave 4 is out now. Proxy the ships if you are worried about playing against them or want to play them.
I'd vote yes as well.
If wave 4 is balanced, then the fact that some have it and others don't shouldn't really matter. The only issue I'd see is the need for FAQ's for it, like the whole double decloak thing.
It will change the meta, but it shouldn't make the XXBB, Bigs walked the Dog, HSF or Tie Swarm lists obsolete, so it shouldn't really change the outcome of the Regionals.
I would prefer they not be legal until after regionals, and expect they will not be given how the tournament rules are written.
My main concern is access, I fear a shortage of the Z-95 in particular, and if there is a shortage of any figure because FFG didn't plan accordingly, it seems like a bad idea to allow them in the middle of a tournament season. I divided my preorder between two separate places just to be safe (CSI stopped taking preorders for the Z-95 but not for the rest, so people are obviously ordering more of those... I'm guessing they are just playing it safe and will get more, but who knows).
But, it would not be the end of the world to me if they were legal once they are officially released, especially if there were enough to go around. I'd be they will not be, though.
I would be very disappointed if they were legal after the Alpha event since everyone would not have access to them. Based on the way the rules are written I don't see how this would be allowed by FFG.

In North America, products are legal upon their release
The previously mentioned rule doesn't supercede this one!? So if not released, then no tourney lovin.

For the 5th or so time.
Event prizes from Assault on Imdaar are not a release. Product isn't legal, according to the event rules, until it has been released. Prizes from Assault on Imdaar can not, by the event rules, be used in any event until after Wave 4s release. Your concerns are baseless.
And you are imposing your own interpretation concerning the availability.

Correct, I suppose I should have been more specific, especially considering peoples odd notions on this subject.
Nope. Just following what FFG does with the LCGs.
