What to do to get new dials

By Hrathen, in X-Wing

I bought a Firespray from another gamer at my LGS a month or so ago. I was pretty anal about getting all the card that come with the ship, but I forgot to get the Dial. I don't get to go to the gaming night at my LGS and I have no guarantee that I will ever be able to see that other gamer again.

But this brings up, what I guess is, a pretty common problem. What do you do if you need a new dial. I know some people have had problems with dials wearing out. I went to FFG customer service and there was a message that they did not replace lost or worn out peaces only ones that are missing. I don't really blame them. It isn't really their fault. But if not from FFG is there somewhere I can get replacement dials?

Corsec Engineering sells dials. It's comes with every maneuver a ship can make, so you use a crayon or something to hide the ones you can't make, or perhaps highlight the ones you can.

I'd bet other people make something similar.

Only thing is those are not tournament legal. You need to get ahold of the person you got the ship from or contact FFGs support and plead your case just be honest and you might be pleasantly surprised.

At some point FFG is going to have come up with something that allows people to buy replacement dials. Even if you take care of them accidents happen, they get lost or other issues.

I know I wouldn't buy another expansion pack just to replace a dial I lost.

My dog literally ate 2 proxy mines and a falcon base and even though they claim they won't, FFG sent me 3 shiny new pieces of cardboard.

It doesn't hurt to submit a request for the lost dial, be nice and humble... I offered to pay for the replacements in mine

Agreed on not buying another just for a dial. I think they should be available through support for $2 - 3 anytime.

Again honestly will help in situations like all mentioned here.

Note, regarding dials wearing out - a thin clear coat fixes that. And a plastic washer in between makes it even better!

Yeah but that doesn't help with losing them or something happening to them. So either FFG is going to have to replace all lost/damaged dials, offer official ones for sale, or allow 3rd party ones.

Correct. But the OP did mention people's dials wearing out. And that's an easy way to prevent it, or to help save them once they do. Plus, they look shinier and different from everyone else's.

As was stated above, complete the online form. One of my dials got lost, and I didn't submit the form because of the same message you saw. After another friend shared his experience with FFG I completed the form and explained what happened. A short while later I found 3 replacement cardboard pages in a package.

Edit: I've got nothing bad to say about their customer service.

I agree, they've been truly fantastic with the couple items I've needed from them. Nothing but thumbs up from me.

Good advice. Thanks everyone I just got my new dial from FFG customer service. I think I should reward them by buying their new $90 expansion. It seems only fair.

Seriously I love FFG customer service.

That is truly awesome to hear.

I sent a request to FFG for a replacement tie fighter dial, but they returned a reply stating that they needed more information?
I bought an imperial fleet from ebay, which included a dial that has a tie fighter front and an x-wing back. I just need a tie fighter manoeuvre back dial.

Calling customer support is all very nice and cosy for those of you that can, but how about people living on the other side of the big pond called the atlantic? I live in Sweden and I'm pretty sure that FFG has no official presence here.

Macross, I seem to recall someone overseas getting something replaced a while back. I don't know who it was, or what they needed, but I'm pretty sure they do it

If you are overseas, you would likely talk to whoever handles the distribution.

They DO need to sell replacement parts. Just good business as things get destroyed, or worn out.

Email their support centre about the issue. Provide photos so that they can see what is broken and/or missing. I had a broken Royal Guard Interceptor in one of my Imperial Aces and emailed them about it. They got back to me about a week later and it arrived in the mail about two weeks after that. Sent via UPS with full tracking so I knew it was coming.

Hey Hrathen,

I didn't even find the dial until recently. Glad you got a replacement but if you want another one I have the original. :)

It was fun to see you fly three of them at the tournament though.

I'm in the uk and got some spare stand pegs to replace some breakages. All very easy, but takes a while with the postage.

I had a TIE dial go missing at regionals, Emailed FFG customer service and they pointed me to the replacement form. Just got it in the post a couple days ago. Have to say they have great customer service.
