Tattered Fates: the 'official' explanation for the Tyrant Star? (POSSIBLE SPOILER ALERT)

By The Laughing God, in Dark Heresy

The latest newsflash said that the Tattered Fates trilogy would take the acolytes deep within the Hereticus Tenebrae ... am I right to assume that points to the Tyrant Star, that mystery of mysteries, and that these books will be the 'official' handling of that threat?

I somehow feel that the Slaught are connected into all of this.

I always assumed that that was going to be the meta plot thread eventually that would connect Dark Heresy and Rogue Trader and eventually DeathWatch

Nah I think the tyrant star is for us to tinker with. I doubt that FFG will reveal what it is. After all the gaame is meant to be influenced by our thinking and that of our players. FFG is there to help by showing us what tpe of weapons we can have and the like.

I never said they were going to reveal what it is, but I just have a feeling it is the mcguffin that will lead into Rogue Trader and then from Rogue Trader to Deathwatch.

If I was FFG I would not reveal the true nature of the Tyrant Star until the last supplement I produced before the license expired with GW.

If you look at the DH products over the past year, from Core to IHB to PtU to DotDG to CA, the words Rogue Trader pop up more and more with each release (especially in DotDG and CA, where there are few pages without the words Rogue and Trader).

That's very interesting.

I had assumed that the full chapter of teasers but no answers in DOTG was a clear communication that they would not be detailing what it was, and leaving that up to the GM's. I'd actually be a little displeased if now they change direction and concretely set down what it is.

But interested none the less. Looking forward to the book now more than ever!

They'll probably do the same exact thing that they did in Disciples of the Dark Gods. Give us all the answer we want... and those answers will raise 20 more questions, which they will answer about 5 of, those answers giving us 20 more questions, and at the end of the day guess what? We're even worse off than we started. Even if they nail it down though, that doesn't stop an intrepid GM from redefining things and what have you. Besides, if there's one thing that you can say about Fantasy Flight Games: When they solve a mystery for you, they make sure to give you at least two or three new ones to chew over.

I'd like to see them throw us a Beast Of Solomon style situation, where they suggest things it *could* be, and how those might work.

Well, they did specifically state in DotDG that they were leaving the true nature of the Tyrant Star completely up to us. So that each GM can use his own version of the Tyrant Star for the game.
