Protecting your maps...

By Ruvion, in Mutant Chronicles

Anyone else laminating, playing under plexi glass, wrapping in celophane, etc? Or am I just anal when it comes to protecting my components??

If you are uptight like me, what was your poison..err solution?

plexiglass is the way. it not only protects your maps, but flattens them, providing a uniform surface to play on.
also, in games with customizable maps, keep it assembled in case there arent "jigsaw" shaped joints (Settlers of Catan, Mage Knights Dungeons).

the only thing about plexiglass is that they aren't too portable...meh.

but you shouldn't transport it. get one for home and keep it there.
your FLGS should have its own sheets on their tables (the shop where sometimes I play has plexiglass sheets on every table).

Portability is an issue for me as I would usually bring it to a friend's house to play not the FLGS...I wonder if lugging a small sized plexiglass is doable...how much is it anyways (2 poster size)? I figure cutting the map into 6 pieces and laminating them would cost quite a penny as well.

Im not laminating and no plexi. Its just bad for transport to fe. friends house. But also i use other maps istead those from MC - i wrote it on the other topic.

I think getting 4 small plexiglass partitions would make portability a non-issue. Will look into that.

I got two 23" x 35" poster frames (plexiglass): it fits the FFG released A1-A3 maps maps perfectly!

costs $50 USD. --> satisfies my obsessive insecurities when it comes to protecting my collection.

for everything else I got my mastercard...

NOT.
