LibrariaNPCs Freighter Creation Thread

On an unrelated note, would the Consular class cruiser fit in here in its diplomatic version? Or would it still be a fairly small capital ship?

IMO, Cruiser = Capital Ship. But maybe that’s just me. YMMV.

That's the thing though, I'm not sure Cruiser is fitting for the name lol. The diplomatic version has a crew of 8, half of which are engineers, and no guns. It's more of a luxury yacht. And sits somewhere around 100m. Even it's combat versions are just that with guns slapped on, much like the armed merchant ships of WWI and WWII.

Alright, I'm (sort of) back. Survived interview #4, but now I have to get things ready for my final convention of the year (and one I've been asked to run Star Wars).

That said, I'm going to be scattered for a while, but I'll do what I can.

First: I believe the Consular-class cruiser was already officially statted. It rides the line between the two, and I can see it being a freighter when "moderately armed" for civilian use, but easily being a small capital ship when heavily armed. The Gozanti rides that line as well, so. . .

Second: outside of the cargo pods (which I am guessing is the game's "stock" variation by the images you've posted), most of these are minor attachments that either replaces another system (escape pod for mini-fighter, the F-LER just attaches and gets in the way of cannons/missiles, etc) or serves a minor purpose that can either be narrative or use up 1 HP (like the pontoons; I'd be split).

According to some Legends sources (mostly Saga books, as far as Wookiepedia says), the vessel we see in TPM is an unarmed executive shuttle (which the description for the CSS-1 in Suns of Fortune mentions as being the predecessor to the CSS-1), while the ship we have stats for (and seen in The Clone Wars) matches the paint job and weapons of a wartime retrofit, something akin to a corvette or light cruiser.

Wonderful list!!

Very complete and well made. Just a question: did you happen to made a Lantillian Short Hauler?

(it's this one: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/GX1_Short_Hauler) it's a very distinctive yet good looking and good stats-ing freighters, and shown on different WEG sourcebook and adventures (and also on Clone Wars o_O)

Short Hauler is an officially statted ship. It's in Fly Casual.

This. Considering I was on the playtest crew for that, I couldn't touch it even if I wanted to.

By the by, I landed a new job. Expect everything on my end to be on hiatus until January at the earliest. Feel free to send requests and I'll do what I can!

YYYYYYYYYAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

Not yay ;)

But we’ll survive, I’m sure. ;)

Feel free to send requests and I'll do what I can!

Awesome! Thanks so much!

Oh Thanks!

i'll look forward to this, then

when i picked up this freighter for my player's, long time ago in a WEG's book, i thought it was "just another freighter". However, now i'ts a "canonical" ship, appearing on tv show! wow! :)

ps thanks for your answer, and good work here!

Edit

i have the beta version of Edge of the Empire and there are the Ghtroc 720, and i love the space turtle since... forever

however i looked at final version of EotE and there is no more Ghtroc 720... where is it now? :(

(sorry to hijack this topic, i'm pretty sure there is an official version of space flying turtle...)

Ghtroc 720 (also one of my favorites from the old days) is in Enter the Unknown (the Explorer sourcebook). Lots of good stuff in that book along with the good old Turtle Freighter, so I highly recommend it.

Congratulations on your new job. And well done for all your hard work with this thread.

There is a plethora of amazing stuff there. Have at it!

Thank you!

Congratulations!

As to a request, have you taken a look at http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/DeepWater-class_light_freighter

I have need for one of these in one of my campaigns.

I think he is unable to do this one, as I've already asked him.

^^This. Sorry.

The first two are quirky and shouldn't be too hard to work with (although utility tugs are odd). The third is more of a fighter, and the fourth is one I've been waffling on for a while.

The standard Gozanti is already statted, and this version just appears to have the typical CEC perks: more speed and a hair more maneuverable in a stock configuration. I'd guess to take the stock version as-is but increase speed and handling by +1 and raise the cost by about 10% and call it good by my guess.

That last one is rather interesting, considering it's be a Silhouette 5 at the very least and has a massive amount of cargo (and little else). I'll see what I can cook up when I have the time.

Statter’s Notes : There wasn’t a lot to go on, as this only appeared in a single WEG adventure that I had to go digging for; didn’t find it, but got the statblock at least!

Due to the size of this thing, I was doing a number of guesses. I put the Hull and System Strain to be between the HT-2200 and the Mobquet, but I gave it as much armor as the HT as this thing looks like it can take a hit.

While it is marked as 0 passengers in the original writeup (and added here), I’ve noted a way to make things a bit more “modular” to allow for passengers, especially since the ship was originally used to haul a rebel strike team.

The two points I’m really waffling on are speed, and handling. Original writeup had this thing going at 1/10 th the speed of a TIE fighter, and even though a Mobquet is faster in the old system, I felt they should be comparable. I’m debating on raising it to 2.

Handling is set to be the same as the Mobquet. Again, wondering if it should be the same as the HT-2200.

My apologies for the extended radio silence. I thought I had gotten around the posting the Brayl , but clearly did not.

In other news: I'll be moving out to Charleston, WV before the holiday, which is eating up a majority of my time (packing, yay). I'm also staffing/GMing at a con (yes, I'm running at least one session of EotE), which will keep me away from the internet until early next week.

I'll be here on and off until the 17th, but afterward, I'm in moving hell and without internet until possibly January.

Don't worry; if I can catch Episode VII and get any ideas for the ships, I'll be sure to start writing them out!

Giving a slight bump due to not being dead and not losing internet yet (but still being busy).

One psuedo-request I was given was to work on the Tales of the Jedi ships. Would anyone like to see these things become a reality?

Any other ships cross anyone's mind, or am I grabbing the old D6 books and seeing what looks good again?

I wouldn't mind the TotJ stuff.

TotJ sounds interesting, I'd like to see them.

I'll be upfront that I don't even know what ships are in that category, so if someone wants to help me save what little time I have and provide a few favorites so I can stat them during my offline time, I'd appreciate it!

I actually thought you got the vast majority of TotJ/KotOR ships already. There are a handful of nameless ones that show up in one panel, and a menagerie of capital ships.

I knew I did a mess of KotOR ships (loved that game; really should get to finishing it at some point and maybe getting back into The Old Republic) and a few that may have been in that era, but didn't know I got the majority of them.

Hate when that happens >_>

Just curious, a lot of those ships you gave a pretty high cost/rarity. Is that intended to reflect prices/rarity of those ships during the Rebellion era, or for the the Old Republic era?
