Thank You FFG (A Satisfied Customer)

By mlbrogueone, in X-Wing

I've been a long time Star Wars RPG player. When a friend showed me the new FF RPG I figured I'd give it a go. Well I've loved it so far, but my RPG group gets together once a month tops. Well I stumbled into the X-wing game when I saw an ad at the end of my RPG book. I figured I'd throw it on the old Christmas list.

Well my in-laws gave it to me and my father-in-law and I tried it out on Christmas Day. We had a blast. Fast forward 5 months and I love this game, I'm starting to meet new people in town with similar interests (I moved here about a year and a half ago but hadn't made many friends yet). Plus my father-in-law and I have something to talk about and do when my wife and I visit.

So overall I was already one happy camper with FFG. Then the X-wing from my X-wing expansion pack snapped off of it's plastic peg while I was putting it on. It was a new X-wing and I was kind of bummed because I didn't think I was using any more force than I had used with my core set X-wing. Well I sent a request to customer support and they are sending me a replacement.

FFG, you guys rock and I am extremely pleased with the products you've made to date. Keep up the good work.

I've been pleased as well. I got my core set as a Christmas gift. Now, several core sets and expansion packs later....

I have a somewhat similar story. One drunken night in January, a good friend introduced me to this wonderful, easy to learn, quick to play and immensely enjoyable game. Many cans of beer and cider were consumed, alongside most of a bottle of Jim Beam. And pizza.

We start playing about 7pm, and finished at gone 3am.

("just one more game. they don't take that long, oh go on then, you set up, I'll get the drinks")

The next day at work was hazy to say the least. It was worth it.

Five months later, I've my own burgeoning collection of FFG models, plus some extras; I've clocked a fair number of hours game time with my friends, got my rear end ruthlessly handed to me at a tournament, pre-ordered more FFG models but above all I've HAD A LOT OF FUN.

During a particularly inebriated moment of enthusiasm back on that fateful first night in January, I loudly declared that X-Wing was one of the finest miniatures games - or indeed board games - I'd ever had the good fortune to play. Blasphemy, some said - what about Warhammer? What about Space Hulk? What about Talisman ?

Pfffft to them I say. Five months later and sober as a judge, I stand by my comment, and can't wait to see what FFG has in store for us next.

They have an Action Transport. I would bet my Gr75 on it.

40K ruined miniature-based table top gaming for me.

Mainly, I will admit, I was unwilling to spend 5,6,7,800 bucks to put an army together. And that is still **relatively** cheap compared to what some of my friends had amassed.

I loved playing 40k - with other peoples miniatures.

That, and the painting thing, I truly could not care less about painting the miniatures. To me, it's a hobby I have zero skill at and do not enjoy - though I thoroughly respect those of you who are truly artists that make amazing creations.

I am happy to say that not only did X-Wing get me back into miniatures, it got me back into Table Top as a whole.

I love X-Wing and I have purchased several other FFG products like Netrunner, Eldritch Horror, Ugg-Tect, etc.

Satisfied customer here.

I'm quite happy with it 'em, even if switching to an evening shift has made it night impossible to play where I'm at! They've made a game addictive enough to the point playing against myself in the light of no opponents!

I enjoy mini wargaming and love Star Wars. This game is fast, entertaining, very cheap, and several of my friends have hopped on the bandwagon.

Thank you, FFG for making a great game.

Yes, thanks FFG. Now don't f**k it up ;)

XWing is my intro to wargamming. Early on I thought I wouldn't buy it because I wasn't very good. However, a few guys in my RPG group went to a tourney, and one of them lost to an 8yr old girl. At that point I deemed it worthwhile just for the chance of seeing him get wiped off the table by a kid.

So much this. But really, wargaming is surprisingly multifaceted, and it is worth trying out, even if you are unsure of yourself. Pop in to a few events, hang out, and get to know folks, and you'll find a crowd that'll show you the ropes nine out of ten times. This is another reason to love X-Wing, its intial cost can be fairly low, which lowers one of the big intimidation factors for table top wargaming.

I hadn't been into miniature wargames or tabletop gaming in at least 12 years (because of expense, time investment, and not having anyone to play with), when one day my girlfriend and I were driving by the local gaming store and she asked me what they sold there. She was curious enough that we ended up stopping by. That's when I saw X-Wing being played on a couple of tables. I knew about the game but I'd never researched it before. Seeing just how beautiful the pre-paints were really made my jaw drop.

I could scratch my miniature gaming itch for relatively cheaply, have them pre-painted better than I could ever paint them, and the only terrain I had to worry about was buying one of the fantastic Gale Force 9 playmats? AND it's Star Wars as well? SOLD.

That night when I got home I hit the internet to find out everything I could about the game. And as it turned out YouTube had a lot of reviews, unboxings, and battle reports. I watched them all, my excitement growing as I realized the game itself was really interesting on a mechanical level as well. It was simple to learn, but with a lot of surprising depth. You can play it forever and it will never get old.

I bought up all of wave 1 and 2 that month, as well as a playmat, and a tackle box to store them in. Such was my excitement I even bought Star Wars car decals to put on the tackle box for flavor.

I've only managed to play two games so far because of time constraints, but I should have more time soon and I plan on introducing myself to the local game store as a regular player as soon as that happens. I'm really looking forward to it.

Thank you FFG for not only X-Wing but all your great RPG's too.

As someone who prefers telling stories to vanquishing enemies they provide me with many hours of fun.

And thank you mlbrogueone for this positive thread.

FFG,

Thank you for this awesome game. It hooked me and my boardgame play group. Going over a year now where we have to play at least one game per meetup.

Thank you for replacing my B-wing mini with an x-wing (by accident), let me keep it, and send me the replacement B-wing to boot! That is the best customer service I have ever had. (BTW, my friend with the smaller collection got the x-wing to help his play group.)

Thank you for keeping the game balanced after so many wave expansions.

Agreement, much agreement.

By the list of ships I own you can tell I love this game. I also must say I have much more enjoyment with this game then Warhammer, and no one has threatened to kill me for playing FFG.

Agree with everyone a great game I enjoy immensely. My only drawback is I am stuck in a twilight zone where everyone near me plays Attack Wing:( Worth traveling a little farther though to get a game.

I've never been into miniature gaming despite seeing 40k about 20 years ago at a local comic shop. I was too intimidated by the painting process. Fast forward through the video games years and I find myself wanting to turn off the TV and have a different evening experience with the wife. We started with GOT LCG(another fantastic FFG game) and I saw the X-wing starter box and all those awesome expansions at the LGS. I knew better not to get it the first time there, an obsession was on the verge. I watched the Wil Wheaton video and was instantly hooked. Rushed out got a starter. After one night with a buddy, beers and a couple of ships that went pew pew, we both went out and purchased the beginnings of our humble fleets. Now I'm reading blogs and forums on an hourly basis and can't be happier. Kudos to FFG for an excellent product.

Who loves you baby?!

 <_<

Great to hear so many people have also had positive experiences!

I was at my first real job and earning decent enough money to think about buying fun things. "Ok," I said, "What kind of gaming stores are in the area? now that I'm commuting across the bay, I want to find some decent ones. Game Kastle huh? I'll check it out."

I had heard of X-Wing and the hype behind it, so on a whim I decided to purchase this thing, not sure what I was getting into.

It's over a year now and I have almost 3-4 of everything save the transport and some of the large ships. I was once a feared opponent in the early days at Game Kastle Fremont, and I think I'm one of the go-to guys for X-Wing stuff in that community. I now work at the fremont location and I'd like to see X-Wing supported as much as I can, and I'm a little dismayed that FFG can't keep as much in stock as their.... prolific competitor, Attack Wing. But we all know which is the superior.

But I can't say that I've regretted my purchase once. Even when my dice luck sucked enough to make me give the game a break for a while, I've returned on the eve of Wave 4's release and I couldn't be happier. I really hope X-Wing can continue into the future as long as other miniatures games have, because someday when I have kids I want to get them into this and hopefully it'll still be in print!

Thanks, FFG, for creating a game that inspires such a thriving community wherever it takes root. This game might be based on Wings of War, but at least where I'm sitting X-Wing has generated the larger community.

I lost a great many things in a car burglary and they replaced all of it. Winning Customer Service.

Yes I totally love this game, FFGs attitude to giving customers proper information on coming products and when they will be released is a breath of fresh air, compared to the games workshop way I have been used to.

Since Christmas I have converted 3 people to the way of X wing, I now wander the wilds of Cumbria with a bottle of Jim beam and a core set........everyone must see the light.......saber!

O.o Wha?

I had a B-wing lose a cannon almost immediately after taking it out and they replaced it hassle free. The people at their store and on the OP team are also really awesome!

Well my replacement X-wing was sitting on my front stoop when I came home from a road trip this weekend. Thank you so much FFG. Looking forward to buying the CR-90 and Wave 4 ships this summer!
