Someone just got paid!

By Antigoth, in UFS General Discussion

At the beginning of March I started an offer where you can get paid to write UFS articles. Because as well all know, more articles is very healthy for the game as a whole.

One gentleman, has stepped above and beyond everyone else, and is close to receiving his very own colum on TCO. That column being:

NJ Brock's Character Gems Corner

Check out his latest installements here:

:B. Jenet:

.Chae.

and his most recent:

Astrid!

That being said - NJ Just got paid!!

For more information on how you can get paid to write UFS articles, take a look here:

I got paid and never delivered!

People even commented on it and stuff.

thank you Brian for recognizing me like that, to tell everyone what i've been doing reciently, i reciently lost my job so until i get a job i will have a LOT of time on my hands, and i've decided to put that time to good use by pointing out characters that are either overlooked, underplayed, or maybe played WRONG and try to give a perspective into that character and their support for newer players and maybe to help some intermediate and even veteran players play the characters better. I will also be trying to do character guides for some of the characters, centering around their support and explaining the uses of the cards, i will need some help with this as well 500+ characters to write guides for = daunting task... so anyone else who wants to pitch in just let me know. Thank you.

Very interesting article for B. Jenet. I like it a lot. I've been toying around with a chaos deck and ::Kyo:: and :B. Jenet: were two characters I were looking at.

Personally, I was trying to do a B.Jenet Your Mind Is Known To Me combo, using Graceful Kabuki to get it back each turn I need it to.

It didn't work.

NJ -

Work on your grammar and punctuation. To end a sentence, you need a period, and you should be ending a sentence almost every time you complete a thought.

The content is, by and large, excellent. I'll want to read more in the future, so I hope you keep writing them. (:

yeah i know, as i discussed with Brian a long time ago, i'm a southern hick... we dont know what grammar is... i've tried to clean it up but you see how far that's gotten me. thanks for reading it though man, anyone else please leave comments, i'll probably have another one up by week's end *hopefully*.

Hey. I'm not going to let you use being from the South as an excuse. I was born and raised in New Orleans, and I contend that "y'all" is a valid construction, simply because English lacks any other true second person plural. I'm on your case because I know you can be better, Southerner or no. (;

sorry pirate... but N'orleans aint nothing... live on the TN/KY boarder for a couple years in the Cumberland Plateau then tell me about grammar... meh... point noted...

It's still no excuse! (Is in South Carolina)

:D

bah... fine... i've been one upped... o well, i've sent the next one off to press, just waiting on Brian to edit what he doesnt want or wishes to add to it it should be up either late this week or early next week, hope everyone will like this one.

I wanna join! I live in Texas, where we have actual, functioning cowboys, and actual, functioning Klan members!

Also, what's wrong with using "you all"? It's not too much a stretch from "y'all".

I'm from just north of Chicago; does that count? Oh wait, I have excellent grammar. Heh, heh.

On topic, excellent articles. My article sadly has past it's viability. I've been looking for something to contribute, but as yet I do not have something.

If you've got something written, submit it. I can throw in disclaimers that it was written during a previous era. Depending on what it contains it may still be relevant to newer players who are looking to discover more about the game.

Sadly, it's an analysis of the "current" game state at the time of writing rather than a guide for players. I have very much been enticed by your contest, but I don't like to write poorly or without inspiration. I will most likely submit something soon. I just want it to be good.

Understood and appreciated.

excelent, i need some competition here guys, hey hatman, want to make a couple more? maybe volunteer to help me out with my character guides that may/or may not be done here soon?

I should note that I particularly like the addition of deck lists in your character analyses, NJ. You don't just describe the character, you show how it could be put to good use. I love it.

I was just a little disappointed with Astrid's legacy deck, though. Chain Throw, while always effective, never impressed me. What I really want to see in a legacy Astrid?

Moonbeam Slicer/Shadow Banishment/Sophitia's Guardian's Judgement/Calamit Symphony played as a reversal.

oh but you misunderstand pirate... my one rule... i stay AWAY from URs and Rares unless necessary(read the disclaimer before i made that deck), if you wish to help out lemme know i will need 2-3 people to help me make character guides eventually.

Also 2 more have been submitted to the higher ups over there, hopefully the next 2 will be up soon.

thank you, i do try to make these articles "new player friendly" so that people from other games wanting to learn the game can look at the article and say... "hmm this looks nice, maybe i should try it" do i make all these decks tourny calibur... no, but not ALL decks are tourny calibur and i try to do as much as possible and go against the grain of "public opinion" on how a character should be played, as these next 2 articles that will be coming up will tell you. That said yes my idea on Astrid and the one that **** near topped at POTM, nice job Dani, are 2 very different ideas but revolve around the same concept, would mine have done that well, no probably not but as my Yuri Deck did at SEC it caused people to scratch their heads and say "do what?" if only i could have followed up with wins i'd have been very happy.

btw Pirate and Hatman those offers are still up.

N.J.

Appreciate the offer, and may take you up on it at some point, but at the moment it's a time and energy issue. I don't have as much of either as I would like, and finally got my hands on Set 12 last Tuesday, so will be spending more time mucking about with cards. (;
