Because you're describing all the things that keep it balanced as if they cripple it. In my experience it's as manueverable as an X-wing, costs the same with a turret, takes hits virtually as well, and comes with amazing support abilities. What you're missing is that the Hawk doesn't need a better dial. It has a 1 forward, 1 Banks, and all the twos, including a two hard turn. With a Turret weapon you don't need anything else. I'm not kidding when I say that either. It can just meander through the battle, skipping around firing arcs and Ionizing things. Works absolute wonders. You just have to play it right. It doesn't need a K-turn, or 3 banks, or 4 forwards. All it needs is to turn 2 all day long. The HWK for me too. Partly because it's a more recent purchase, but mostly because I despise its dial. Arguably the worst dial in the game. I know people say the Lamda takes the cake in that regard but at least it has the stop maneuver. The HWK has nothing at all going for it. And 1 blaster die makes a turret mandatory. And with only one shield, it is very susceptible to crits.
Just so many missed opportunities.
Yes the Turret is mandatory. It earns the cost though.
Why do you assume that if I have a different opinion that I must be missing something? When I am in a jam, I like to surprise my opponent and throw off their maneuver scheme. The HWK doesn't have that option. I understand why it has the crappiest dial, I just don't like that it does.
I don't like things that are a known quantity. It makes it easy for the opponent to plan around.
And everything in this game is a known quantity. Memorizing everything about this game is insanely easy. Predicting where ships will move to get shots is the same. Not difficult.
With that logic, the Y-wing is OP because it has a better dial. I don't think a K-turn would break the hawk. What I mean by it being a known quantity, is with such a limited set of options, predicting what it'll do is easier than most ships. I can memorize dials and know what a ship is capable of but guessing what they'll do is harder. I'd rather not hand that advantage to my opponent on a silver platter.
I'm not missing anything. I'm just not a fan. You don't have to like it, but that's the way it is.
What is your least played ship?
The transport
Definitely the transport.
I don't ever pull out my YT-1300, except to have a new player fly it. Feels like playing with training wheels.
I also rarely choose an A-wing. Every time I fly one, I wish it was an interceptor. Hopefully that will change with rebel aces.
This. I feel the exact same way. I play as Rebellion forces only in tournaments and such but casually I split running Imps with my buddy 50/50 so we can get our strategies down pat for whatever we come up against. Generally when I fly Imps, I take a variety of craft and do well with them, though the only TIE/ADV I play is Vader.
I have yet to play the HWK and I own 3 of them
I have played Vader quite a few times though
Falcon - the only ship I dislike.
Heresy!!!!
....
For my part, the HWK. I try to, but I find it cost a little too much for what it brings.
Vanilla TIE for sure (and the transport - would love to sell that sucker).
The Transport will make a much better support ship than an HWK
Mine:
Tie adv
Y-wing
Interesting to see so many people averse to the YT. It's hands down one of the best looking models in the game.

Playing it the least, I can understand. With the turret, big base, red target painted on it and high cost, it,s not a ship for everyone.
But not liking it.... How can you not love the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy!?

It doesn't look bad for being inspired by something like this:
Haha, the HWK is my MOST used ship! I can't get enough of it.
My least used ship though, would probably be a Firespray or the YT. It took me a year to finally use either!
Since I've actually only maybe played... 20 games? I have lots I know I haven't used.
My YT-1300's, my HWK's, my third Y-Wing, my third A-Wing, my second and third Firespray 31's, my Shuttle... my TIE Interceptors, Bomber and Advanced, and I haven't used the GR-75 either. Funny how much I spend and theorize on this game and yet I don't get to make use of everything... or choose not to.
YT1300 Chewbacca with EH is the best ship in the game. My three hawks have never been used. And outside of Vader ive never seen the other tie advanceds used.
Firespray - I almost never use it on purpose

A barrel rolling YT impervious to crits with a gunner is a scary sight for a squishy Imperial ship...
The A-Wing is another that I almost never use. Tycho is nice and all, but I really don't like rolling less than 3 attack dice... ever. Imps have Howlrunner, and many rebels ships have ways to improve a 2 attack die ship, like turrets,

Trust me, wait for Jake. He rolls 3 dice that are focused and/or TLed very frequently. He hits harder than your average X-Wing and he does it a lot.

don't forget the APLs, if people try blocking you might as well make it hurt
I have two bombers and only used them a handful of times, they're fire magnets that just don't pay off their points among my friends.
One ship I dont think I have ever seen played is Fels Wrath. What a terrible ship.

Challenge accepted.
I run a hwk all the time, like this:
Roark, ion turret, intelligence agent
With 2 daggers + advanced sensors, and a rookie pilot.
I find Roark really useful actually. I often have the rookie act as a blocker, so giving him ps12 shooting is great. Ion turret also great. It's really useful that Roark is the same ps as the daggers, so I can move in whatever order I want.
The intelligence agent is a waste though. Hardly ever useful so far. In theory I could use it to block high ps ships with my daggers but it never seems to actually happen.
My least played, but most thought about, is my lambda. I keep trying to figure out a use for it in 100 points and can't. Stock ones seem totally pointless so I'm going to have a go really tooling one up next. A good pilot with engine, HLC and advanced sensors might be useful.
HWK-290. I have 2 and never fielded them once.
