Escalation list feedback - Firespray/Bombers/Interceptors

Hi all,

I'm putting together an Escalation list and would like to know what you think of it.

It's using my three favourite ships of the moment, which I'm having fun playing in 75pts lists. I also have 3 TIE fighters in my collection, but that's all, so please don't go too crazy with alternative ships suggestions :)

The idea is to start with durability and a bit of psychological warfare with the bombs, also Kath for her high PS, then build up on this concept and in the end add up some fast flankers with some possible crazy moves on the Firespray.

I would prefer the Assault Missiles on a Bomber than on Kath, or possibly stripped out to improve your list overall.

Other than that, though, looks great!

What do you suggest to replace the Assault Missiles?

By sacrificing the Assault Missiles alone:

Targeting Computers for your Interceptors (and Initiative)

By sacrificing the Assault Missiles and the Shield Upgrades

Hull Upgrades and Stealth Devices for your Interceptors (and Initiative)
Hull Upgrades and Targeting Computers, and an Ion Cannon for Kath

By Sacrificing the Assault Missiles and Gunner

Rebel Captive + Heavy Laser Cannon for Kath

Rebel Captive for Kath, and Hull/Stealth for your still-shielded Interceptors (and Initiative)

You could also sacrifice Gunner and Assault Missiles and the Bombers' Seismic Charges to give Kath a Mercenary Co-Pilot, and the Bombers 2x Proton Bombs.

Lots of potential options to consider, that's great!

I like the Hull Upgrade and Stealth Device option on the Interceptors. Those things tend to die on me very fast if I don't protect them properly!

The ion cannon solution would also come in handy, with good flying it could help landing the bombs more effectively.

The Ion Kathon build lets her keep her gunner, so it also means you can barrel-roll into a high-damage position next turn, even against higher PS pilots

That is awesome indeed! I works beautifully. I suppose we could also swap the Hull Upgrade for Stealth Device (that might be a matter of personal preference).

Now I just need an opportunity to test it out on the star field! ^_^

It sets up the bombs very well, and paralyzes an enemy ship for you to expert-handling in the following turn.

It's a control-upgrade that doesn't fall off, unlike the Assault Missiles which do.

How many Firesprays do you have? If you could squeeze a Bounty Hunter in there you might have a little more beefiness. Overall it looks like a very good list though. My main issue with Gunner on the Firespray is you can't use the rear arc. With Expert Handling on Kath you will almost certainly be using that rear arc frequently.

You can totally use the Gunner out of the auxillary arc. You can't use secondary weapons out of it, but gunner is a second primary-weapon attack.

Ok, another question. Why no rear arc? It' span auxiliary arc for the primary weapon, not a secondary weapon.

Juggler is simply wrong. You cannot shoot secondary Weapons out of your auxillary arc, but Gunner is a Primary weapon attack, merely a second one.

That makes sense, and I get that, but it's an expensive combination, and the cost overlaps in some ways with gunner, or doesn't really allow it to be used to full extent since you're limited to one damage either way. I realize the Empire doesn't have a lot of options for ions, but I'm just not a fan of it on an expensive pilot like Kath.

Thats's what I thought, but wanted clarification and saw your answer pop in before mine.
