Has anyone else won a tournament and....

By Audio Weasel, in X-Wing

I'm assuming the OP was talking about Huzzah Hobbies in Ashburn, VA. I was at that tournament. To be totally honest, any tournament where you receive a prize and didn't have to pay an entry fee is a good tournament. Even when they had Game Night Kits they weren't charging an entry fee. So I would be perfectly happy with a plushy X-wing.

They are very new to X-wing and are trying to build the game. They already admitted that they will have to dedicate more space for X-wing tournaments on Thursday nights. That 16 player tournament was the most they have ever had.

They have had a few issues with wrong pairings and dropping scores, but they are quickly learning. The guy who should have won that tournament had 3 full wins, but somehow they dropped his first round score. But I'm working with them on new software for their tournaments.

Anyway, it was a strange prize, but under the circumstances, and prize was a good prize.

That's the one! Did I play you at it? I had a grand time during the whole thing.

I didn't know that someone had 3 full wins. If you know who he is, I'll certainly give my prize over to him (with reluctance, but if I didn't earn it, I don't deserve it). Seriously, PM me if you know who should have won. I was in total shock when I was announced as the winner. It figures something wasn't right.

Like I said earlier in the thread, NOT complaining, just wondering if it happened at other places too. I was actually one of the people that was bugging Huzzah to start doing X-Wing tourneys. It's close to where I work, making it easier to get to on thursdays.

Its not a big deal really. They guy who had three full wins wasn't upset and wouldn't want to take it from you. I just mentioned it to show that Huzzah was still new to X-wing and has some stuff to learn. But it really is a great store and I will defintely be going back. I worked down the street from them too until this week. I'm now in Reston. Further, but not too far to make their thursday night tournaments.

Is a victory hug weird?

Was the guy wearing the Princess Leia brass bikini from Return of the Jedi?

If not, still weird.
