I thought the lens flare was a nice preview of things to come.
I hope we get stats for the upside down nebulon b "temple class heavy freighter".
Well, I imagine they would look a little bit like this:
Penguins have thumbs? Penguins have thumbs!
That is all.
temple class heavy freighter?
Ahh an all new class for the core book.

Thank you, thank you, thank you. ![]()
Really making being a rebel sound fun and awesome there guys...
I can't help but feel that they have forgotten the 'but'...

As in, the Rebels are in a desperate situation, but...
So far they have done a great job of laying out the desperate situation. Not so much on laying out the but.
“The Imperial Navy has the resources of the entire galaxy at its beck and call. They have the most money, the best designers, the most respected shipyards, and they can turn out ships at an incredible rate.
“On the other hand, the Alliance is using second or third-hand ships that are decades old – fighters that were old during the Clone Wars, and sub-capital cruisers and frigates that are long past their prime.
“I wanted to make it clear that the Imperial Navy was a new, shiny, deadly efficient military force and the Alliance fleet was a rag-tag collection of antiques, repurposed freighters, and salvaged warships doing the best they could in an ugly situation.”

Well first of all the Rebellion does have some elite ship designers of their own. In fact the designers or design firms for basically every starfighter we see the Republic using in The Clone Wars series go on to work for or with the rebellion in Legends, and we can't say much the same won't be true in canon yet.
Second what exactly are you meaning by sub-capital cruisers and frigates? In Star Wars the only warships which might be considered sub-capital are less than 100 meters in length.
Third the Rebelion does use a lot of older fighters and ships but it also produces a number of modern fighters and warships as well, and the Empire also uses a lot of older ships. The Carracks are Old Republic models, as are the Dreadnaughts, the Bayonets, hell even the Imperial-Is were originally built for the Republic rather than the Empire.

"Everybody I know has a big 'but'"

Desslok... I hope there is a special place in hell for penguins. ![]()

I feel I should note that that is FFG add copy for Age of Rebellion, which I can only assume is in some way supposed to get people enthusiastic about spending some of their free time pretending members of the Rebellion.
Like I say, they have said what sucks about being a Rebel. Is there some kind of up side to go with it?
Maybe it is supposed make victory even sweeter knowing that the odds are so stacked against you?

Wow. That text not being justified properly is downright insulting. And I'm not even kidding.
Got my GM Screen and Core rulebook today(Scotland)! Fantastix quality as always!

Curious about the Talent trees, Gunner and Infiltrator specifically. If there are any changes other than the new Talents in Gunner and if the pathway in Infiltrator is as it's presented in Beta or is it as it is presented in this?
I have it! The FLGS says they got it in this morning, so I'm pretty sure it's out there just about everywhere (in the US) now.
Don't think anything changed from Beta updates, 2P51.
Gunner changed Barrage and Precise Aim to the new talents, but the progression is the same.
Infiltrator totally unchanged from Beta.
My FLGS got copies of the book in today. 54 bucks, so I decided to wait for my MM order, but it didn't stop me from skimming through.
The artwork - gorgeous. I loved the Over the Shoulder picture of the Super Star Destroyer and the Vader pic for the Gamemaster Section was sexy too. All in all, it looks like about a 3rd of the book was new stuff from the beta - pretty much the back 1/3rd, the color and planets and What Is Roleplaying stuff.
Annoyingly, they mentioned that whole Force Unleashed nonsense in the History of the Rebellion section. I was hoping that particular bullet point would have been glossed over (or thrown under the bus) - but no, Starkiller Sue gets a whole three paragraphs. Blech.
The Canned Game looks pretty cool. Mind you, I didn't read it completely, but at first glance it looked like something you could easily file the serial numbers off for an EotE game. Heck, have a team of rebels AND your criminal PCs trying to boost the freighter all at the same time, working at odds with each other.
Also, compared to the Nebulon B, the Temple Freighter has less armor, moves slower and hauls more stuff. I didn't think to look at the bridge configuration closely enough to see if it matched what WEG or WotC did for the B's.
And that page of left justified text for the Scroll-Up? Doesn't appear in the book. There's just a little GM Read Aloud text block at the start of the game. Not a full on typsetting disaster like the preview showed.
Since my Table has swapped games for a couple of months (and we're still firmly in bed with the Scum and the Villainy anyway), I'm in no pressing need to get the book. I am content to let MM get their copy to me - this sneak preview was enough to scratch that itch.
Edited by DesslokGreat overview, Desslok. Also, I'm pleased that no one has spoiled what the Alderaan artwork actually is yet (apart from that it's great). Hopefully, no one will.
Looking forward to my book arriving in about two weeks...

I'm simply going to ignore the Starkiller bit. If I ever get back into gaming (new job murdered my free time) and this comes up it going to be a simple "Whats a Starkiller? You mean Death Star, right?"
When I first read over the entry for the Temple Class I thought that was what they were calling the containers Kuat designed to strap onto a Neb-B. It kinda is, but its also the ship class too; an upside-down Neb-B...
I'm going to believe the picture is a printer error and its a cvilian version of the Neb-B, sort of like a L100 to an C-130.
Oooh, I like that - the civilian version is brilliant. It shall be so (at least in my personal head canon!)
I'd rather not have civilian versions of warships. Civilian versions of military transports is one thing, but the Nebulon-B is a full-on warship (even if it's a light-to-medium one), so having a civilian version of it makes my brain hurt.
See, that's the beautiful thing - this is purely an Epileptic Trees theory and not actually based on any real information. Disregard at your leisure!
