Break out the champaign, boys! Its a-coming!

By Desslok, in Star Wars: Age of Rebellion RPG

Ah - so less James Cameron and more The Asylum:

(Where yes, the Titanic II was sunk by a tidal wave - moving at close to the speed of sound! - that was triggered by global warming)

I really want to see some Star Wars RPG news soon....another book announcement, a release (this one!) or something...the suspense is unnerving...

I think we are about due for a new EotE adventure module book...or a region splat book for AoR?

I'm in the same boat. I'm hungry for a new announcement. I'm hoping with great anticipation to hear another adventure book is on the way. Also, the career book for bounty hunters will be popular with my group so I hope to hear that for release as well. Even if it isn't until Q4, I'd love to just hear what's on the way.

Wasn't Far Horizons just announced, like, two weeks ago?

I share people's desire for MOARTM, but I think a bit of a chill-out couldn't hurt. Remember the days when the only way to learn about new releases was to pop by the store and see what was there?

Not trying to be a killjoy... I just think the immediacy of the internet can make us all a bit hysterical at times.

For what it's worth, Amazon have both the Core Rulebook and the GM Kit listed for release on the 6th July (although it looks like it's from a third-party Amazon marketplace seller, Funagain Games, not dealt with them before):

Upcoming is now updated for a July release. Maybe early July? That doesn't seem like their style though.

If I recall correctly (and think I do) the core rulebook for Edge of the Empire was originally slated for June 2013, but the date slipped and it got released in early July. We may be looking at a similar situation here, even though most of their releases are at the end of the month. (Usually the last Friday.)

Alright boys pack up the drinks we still have another month to wait.

Darn, was really hoping for a June release, if nothing else to alleviate the same round of grousing when the F&D Beta gets released this August that came about when the AoR Beta was released only a couple months after the EotE core rulebook came out, with folks complaining of not having enough time to properly test the new material since they were still wrapping their heads around EotE's core content.

Yes, it's true. Teh interwebs haz spoiled us. However, people have been impatient for new stuff forever, even when we had to walk down to the store to see what they had. Invariably, we'd sidle up to the manager or staff and subtly inquire about what was coming on the next truck, or what communiques they'd received from our favorite manufacturers. The waiting is terrible now, but let's be honest: the waiting has always been terrible.

And my wallet sighs in relief...

Got a new FLGS. (The owner of the previous one died in a heart attack, and the store was sold to another nearby game store, who had to move it down the street a block) granted it is about 60% Comics, 1% RPG (D&D) and the rest CCG and board games as well as a few collectables.

Had a good chat with the owner/manager and at the end of the month, due to interest, they are going to start including SW:RPG materials.. including the new AoR book. and i pre-ordered from my new FLGS

You’ll soon have your chance to make your mark in the Galactic Civil War. The Age of Rebellion Core Rulebook is scheduled to arrive at retailers everywhere early next month. Head to your local retailer to pre-order your copy today!

Barnes and Noble cancelled my preorder and kicked me to the curb. Apparently they can't get ahold of the book.

That's actually a pretty common occurrence with them. I've had it happen a couple times in the past, where my pre-order of an FFG Star Wars item would be cancelled and then soon after they would just remove the item from the site altogether. It's best to just ignore them, as well as Amazon, if you're trying to get something immediately at release.

I'd recommend War Store, they're pretty solid. There's also Miniature Market, generally cheaper, but my last few orders from them took longer than they should have, so I'm slightly wary of ordering from them again.

You’ll find entire legions of Stormtroopers, Snowtroopers, and even Dark Troopers among the various minions, rivals, and nemeses presented in the Age of Rebellion Core Rulebook. Alongside such Imperial troops, you’ll also find DeStab agents, Imperial Moffs, military informants, and TIE aces.

“The Imperial Navy has the resources of the entire galaxy at its beck and call. They have the most money, the best designers, the most respected shipyards, and they can turn out ships at an incredible rate.

“On the other hand, the Alliance is using second or third-hand ships that are decades old – fighters that were old during the Clone Wars, and sub-capital cruisers and frigates that are long past their prime.

“I wanted to make it clear that the Imperial Navy was a new, shiny, deadly efficient military force and the Alliance fleet was a rag-tag collection of antiques, repurposed freighters, and salvaged warships doing the best they could in an ugly situation.”

Really making being a rebel sound fun and awesome there guys...

Everyone loves an underdog*, and the Rebels are some of the biggest underdogs in fiction.

*Well, maybe not President Snow (at least according to the Hunger Games film)
