Disappointed in you, FFG

Let it die! It burns us!

I loved the Star Wars minis game! But in my experience, it was way more expensive then X-wing. In fact I told myself never to buy into another collectable game again. Plus it didn't help I waisted a lot of money on the horrible Starship Battles miniatures game they made.

Other things I didn't like about the game was the crazy power creep that started in wave two! Plus all the extra useless filler minis you end up getting.

When I first found the X-wing miniatures game at my local comic shop, I almost didn't buy it because of this experience. But luckily I was unable to leave the store without buying the game. =p

So far I haven't seen any of these problems in xwing, which is good because I plan to stop buying new ships if I sense any power creep. But I don't see that happening with FFG. :-)

What power creep? People keep using that phrase, but I don't think they know what it means.
Well, you get more power for the point cost with the miniatures from the later waves, making the earlier wave minis not worth playing. What would be your definition of "power creep"? Am I wrong?

Few things that have been printed recently are strictly better than what's come before, with only minor exceptions for cards that were never played in the first place *cough*Fel's Wrath*cough*. Did we get some really good ships for their point cost recently? Absolutely. Has that stopped people from playing with older ships? Absolutely not. Blue Squadron Pilot may be good, but it hasn't completely stopped people from using Rookie Pilot. The ships are, for the most part, still very well balanced.

I totally agree with you 100%!

All the "power creep" comments I made were directed at the old Star Wars collectable minis game I used to play. I was using it as an example as to why I prefer FFG's way of doing things. :-)

Well, apparently I was only half paying attention to your post. I apologize.

If this game was free, it would be perfect.

......and yet someone will find a reason to complain even if it was free.

I love the internets forum drama.

Makes my day at work fun.

Well, apparently I was only half paying attention to your post. I apologize.

No worries :-)

I do not mean offense with this comment and I only want to contribute my perspective.

Games are a luxury whether or not they are card games, miniatures games, or video games. I understand that the economy is garbage right now and many will not buy the transport because they can't afford it or they don't want to play epic games. That, however, is a personal choice. But deriding FFG for releasing a defenseless transport with an X-wing escort, that was not just another Wedge expansion, comes off kinda obnoxious.

Besides, if you don't try it out at all, how will you know you don't like it? I played my first game against a transport last night and I had a great time. Maybe you will too if you open up to it and let the force flow through you.

Search your feelings on this and remember that it is not about who has the most ships or upgrades, but whether or not you had fun playing the game with your friends.

O_o this thread is growing faster than the TIEadv fixin thread

Can we just let this thread die? No one is going to change is opinion (trust me on this). Main reason I replied is because I haven't had a good online fight with Boris in forever. I was feeling nostalgic.

He is well within his right to be disappointed in what FFG does. FFG may have a bit of a friendlier face to it, but they are just as much about getting your money as any other company. I mean, the Transport X-wing is pretty much the dealer giving you your first hit of Epic.

I love hcrealms cross overs lol.

I started playing AD&D when it was just the Player's Handbook, the DM's Guide and the Monster Manual.

At one time, I owned every single boxed game that TSR made - Gamma World, Boot Hill, Top Secret, Star Frontiers, etc. etc.

Then they went and v.2'd everything, so I quit.

I started playing WH40K when it was just one single hardcover book for *everything* and *every faction*.
I bought my plastic 10 Space Marine box and was happy with them. Then I needed to buy more and more and more. I painted my armies until I went cross-eyed, or at least felt like I did.

Then they went and took the company public, lost their minds, so I quit.

I love SW:X. It's fantastic. It's pre-painted. It captures the spirit of the space combat of the movies very well. I've been buying and building my collection of ships for probably over two years now, or at least it feels that long. It's a bit of cash, for sure, but it's spread out over a time.
