Ok, so I was just sort of fiddling around with novel maneuvering concepts and came up with something interesting. Ever wished you could launch your bombs in front of you? Well here is your answer—Scimitar Squadron pilots with Adrenaline Rush and Proximity Mines. How? Simply do a 5 K-turn, Adrenaline Rush, and drop your bomb! You have in effect dropped it "in front" of your current position. Now I can't currently think of a use, but I could see creating a Prox mine "Wall" this way to let huge ships blunder through. Thoughts?
Bombs launched "in front" of you. Useful?
I am just waiting for a ship with the combo of Bombs, Advanced Sensors, and boost/barrel roll for truly pin point bombing.
I should point out that the Scimitar can't take an EPT, so no Adrenaline Rush. You could do it on Jonus/Rhymer, but since you are effectively sacrificing those ships or at least taking them out of the fight for a while, I don't think it's worth it. An interesting idea though.
Adrenaline Rush is an Elite Pilot Talent, which Scimitar (and Gamma) Squadron Pilots do not have. So you'd have to put it on Jonus or Rhymer, who in turn are in greater danger of being blocked.

Oops. Didn't think of that. I actually meant Gammas, but I forgot that for some reason they don't have EPTs.
Gamma's do not have EPT slots either. It is just to expensive of a trick imho.
neat trick, but then you'd likely be facing away from the fight, and that just seems like a bad idea.
Expensive. Need one of the named pilots, plus EU if you ever plan on getting back into the fight. 29 points for Jonus plus EU, AS and a Seismic Charge. Not terribly expensive but terribly gimmicky.
I saw your thread title. I love using Scimitars with Proximities for similar reasons, but it's simply unfeasible...for now.
I've been wondering about the possibility of a 4-point Bomb that will let you do something like a Rocket Jump.
Here's what I've got so far:
As an Action, perform a red 1 Bank or Forward maneuver, then drop the bomb where you started. It detonates immediately, dealing 2 red-dice worth of damage to each ship in Range 1 of the token (including your own). This gives the effect of launching the bomb underneath yourself to propel yourself forward with the blast-wave.
The upgrade would come with multiple, but finite, charges. What think ye?
OP, I've been trying to figure out how to do this for months. The best I came up with was to fly them alongside Captain Yorr. Problem is that's most of your points right there, and in order for Yorr to take the stress he's gotta be pretty far up there with the bombers. As fun as it looks, I just haven't felt it would be competitive enough to warrant all the trial and error to pull it off.

That being said, Scimitars with Prox Mines are still VERY useful, even if you won't get the Koiogran off with them.
At 19 points and level 2 pilots, you have the option of planning your maneuver on a mostly unchanged board, to leave a little present under your most hated foe's ship. Bonus points if it's a ship with low HP but high Agility, as the green don't mean a thing to the Proximity Mines!
Remember: Everyone that doesn't have free actions before they move, or a Decloak action, has an area that all maneuvers will pass through, unless someone else clears the mine first. When expanding that to their final ship position as well, and the fairly large size of the proximity mine, putting it on a low PS ship can easily be a guaranteed and unavoidable detonation.
Hm... If only there was a way to make allied ships move as a PS 0....

I definitely agree that Proximity Mines will be valuable tools in Epic Play. Not sure you can reliably catch the Huge ships, since they activate last of all, but just the sheer number of ships on the table make it more tempting. That, and 3 points out of 200/300 doesn't seem as bad of an investment as 3 points out of 100.

Since the Huge ships fishtail, they're even easier to lead than normal.
I do wonder, though. If the maneuver template intersects with the Prox Mine sets it off, and every maneuver on the ship uses the same ginormous maneuver template, is it possible to force them to spear your Prox Mines even when the arc of the ship would not go near the mine itself?
Don't forget Firesprays can carry prox mines too.
100pts
Boba Fett w/ adrenaline rush & proximity mine
Kath Scarlet w/ adrenaline rush & proximity mine
Night Beast
The big birds can flip and drop mines while also shooting through the mines at the enemy that round. Since K&B have high PS, you're basically setting up for the enemy to trigger them next activation phase, or against PS 9 enemy this phase.
Isn't a bomb launched in front of you, more of a missile than a bomb?
