Death Star

More a mission than a ship but great fun, sure this will raise a storm for those that must have thing to scale and represent ‘real’ Star Wars specs but I just thought this up and had great fun playing with it, albeit some simple rules.

Death star has no defence, 20 hull and 10 shields although crits do not apply.

Imps receive additional 2 evade within range 1 (was 3 on card)

Rebels roll 2 attack within range 1 (was 3 when i printed the card) , also if rebels do not fire on death star once per round then roll 5 dice against and ship on the board with no evade! That’s on big laser!!

Any ship that transits the death star is destroyed.

You cannot shoot through the death star.

I made the death star 160mm diameter

I gave it 61 points but will need to play a few more round to see if the points/ hull etc balance out.

Any positive ideas please, I urge you to try it adds a whole new dynamic to the game.

I'm thinking that the Lego Death Star, not the play set but the other one that has a crap ton of bricks would be a more scale fitting model, still nowhere near as scale as the DS should be, but it could work for a custom mission type setup.

You could totally use it as a set piece on the side of the map. The only problem with that set is that it is a giant pain in the *** to move around. It is wobbly and there isn't a place to hold it except for the base. It is like a 20lb spinning plate on a broomstick. It stays on top of the book shelf for a reason. It would work quite well if you had a semi-permanent place to keep it next to the table.

Here's a pic with a couple of Tie fighters.

:)

Thirty hit points is way too many for something that can be one-shotted by your average Proton Torpedo.

Your model looks quite nice. We'll forgo the silly subject of scale. How did you make it? My first guess would be a foam ball coated in a crafting putty with subsequent detail carved in.

Check it out Bro.

It sucks as a globe, but rocks as a model.

Not gunna lie, I was like wut? Then I lolled.

You could introduce a rule where, every 10 turns or so, you can destroy any huge or large ship outright. That gives the battle some urgency :D

Yep it is the Death Star planetarium i just threw a lick of paint on it.

I like the idea of giving a time limit on gameplay, move fast or be destroyed! J I think that large ships should have greater fire power on other large ships and less on smaller ships to represent a large slow ship trying to hit a small agile ship. Large v large say 5 attacks but large v small 2. Then the Death Star comes in like a wrecking ball ..:-)

I should have a Star destroyer ready in a few weeks so that was my plan. this will be played on a 5x3, need the space!

30 points I think works about right, I played a x-wing, y-wing and falcon against 2 ties and the DS the rebels won too easy at 20 hits. If you remember that it only fires at you if it is not attacked, so mainly it slows the attack on the tie fighters. Interestingly I gained more hits from being in range 1, it deceptive how big the range is. Thanks for the feedback tho.

I still prefer...

...the cookie jar

Every time you score a critical hit on the DS you don't actually bother with a damage card, you just get a cookie.

Mmmmmm! CoooooKieeeees!

Dude . . .

There aren't enough likes in the universe for that post!!

Briefing Officer: " So you fly down this trench til you get to an exhaust port, where you will fire your proton torpedoes. This will start a chain reaction causing the station to explode. As soon as you've fired your torpedoes, you must get clear as quickly as possible 'cos there's gonna be chocolate chips the size of asteroids flying everywhere! "

Nerd humor at 7am....WOW the Dark side does have cookies!

Thats one cookie (jar) I don't mind having on my computer.

"I find your lack of snickerdoodles disturbing!"

"I find your lack of snickerdoodles disturbing!"

The ability to enjoy snickerdoodles is insignificant compared to the power of the chocolate chip...
