GR75 as an obsitcal

By macar, in X-Wing

Can you do this in tournament play??

PLayers may use the Gr-75 as an obstacle instead of as a rebel ship during a standard game. To do so, flip the ship token to the starfield side and follow the rules for adding obstacles described on page 20 of the core set rulebook, with the following change. One player places the gr75 first instead of his three asteroids

It is not controlled and cannot be moved damaged or destroyed.

Nope.

Nope.

Why not? I thought the rules were pretty clear that you could use it in the place of three asteroids.

I am not sure how this would work, but if it is in the rules why can't you. Is it specifically mentioned in the tournament rules.

I would say my guess would be no. I have played a friendly game with it and it was kinda boring. we just fought next to it. It really doesn't /didn't do much to the game really.

but for tourneys, TOs call probably, but I would lean more to the norm with 6 rocks

under page 2 of the tourney rules:

The player with initiative places the six unique asteroid tokens from his

core set next to the play area. He chooses one of these asteroid tokens

and places it into the play area. Then, his opponent chooses one of the

remaining asteroid tokens and places it into the play area. The players

continue to alternate until all six tokens have been placed. An asteroid

token cannot be placed at Range 1–2 of any edge of the play area or at

Range 1 of another asteroid token

But the transport replaces 3 of those unique asteroids

If you continued reading the paragraph you quoted, you'd get the answer to your question:

Players may use huge ships as obstacles instead of as a ship in standard play.
To do so, flip the ship token to the starfield side and follow the rules for adding
obstacles described on page 20 of the core set rulebook, with the following
change: one player places the huge ship obstacle first instead of his three
asteroid tokens. Huge ships may not be used as obstacles during tournament
play , except in casual events in which the Tournament Organizer has announced
prior to the event that they will allow huge ships to be used as obstacles.
(emphasis mine)

ITs not in the Official Tourney Rules - so it would not be legal if I was running the tourney. As the rules are the rules. Now if they update and add it to it, then its in as far as I'm concerned. PLUS , just a thought, it is EPIC so would that not make it viable to be played in a standard game?

From the Huge Ship Rules PDF version 1.0:

USING HUGE SHIPS AS OBSTACLES
Players may use huge ships as obstacles instead of as a ship in standard play.
To do so, flip the ship token to the starfield side and follow the rules for adding
obstacles described on page 20 of the core set rulebook, with the following
change: one player places the huge ship obstacle first instead of his three
asteroid tokens. Huge ships may not be used as obstacles during tournament
play,
except in casual events in which the Tournament Organizer has announced
prior to the event that they will allow huge ships to be used as obstacles.
The huge ship obstacle is not controlled by any player. It uses the rules
for overlapping and obstructing described under the “Additional Huge Ship
Rules” section of this rulebook. It does not move, and it cannot be attacked,
damaged, or destroyed.

Can't be used in tournaments, only casual games.

It doesn't have that added sentence that came in the transport. Thanks for finding that!

That's interesting... I'll have to actually read the transport rules then, since I've only read the PDF version.

I believe its only on the huge or epic rules, its not on the rules for the transport.

Opens the holy tome known as the "X-wing Standard Play Tournament Rules". Reads aloud the words contained within the 14 paragraph subsection 5 on the 2nd page.

" The player with initiative places the six unique asteroid tokens from his core set next to the play area. He chooses one of these asteroid tokens and places it into the play area. Then, his opponent chooses one of the remaining asteroid tokens and places it into the play area. The players continue to alternate until all six tokens have been placed. An asteroid token cannot be placed at Range 1–2 of any edge of the play area or at Range 1 of another asteroid token."

It states 'NOTHING" about the Transport. That being said it would be up to the TO otherwise it can't be used.
