you fool....impossible
Space triangles!
The first couple of epic games I played were filled with tactical maneuvering on a grand scale, and the only traffic jams were ones that I caused on purpose (flew 1 X-wing up front to catch his X/B squadron in a tangle with his Falcon, and flew my shuttle straight ahead when his Y-wing was ion'd, causing everything behind it to get fouled up on my cow)
So many ships are about to be crushed the next round. So many.
You'd be pretty foolish to clump all your forces into a megablob for Epic Play, especially if you have Huge Ships around. I mean that picture is really cinematic but unless both players are magicians then everyone dies.

Mostly Rebel, if I'm guessing the pilot values correctly (All the academies and interceptors will GTFO of there and leave the X-wings and B-wings with nowhere to go...)

With the Corvette and Transport coming and ramming, there won't be a huge cluster for long.....
-''Full speed ahead! Ram those ships!''
-''But some are our friends, sir!''
-''Not all of them! Mouahahahahahahahahaha!!!!! Die you little insects! Die!''
Yeah, I thought about that pic in the article and realized that it was meant to showcase an exciting battle, but that Rebel player has really put their ships in a bad position.
I am trying to figure out to to feint effectively in this game. I think it may be easier in Epic Play with a larger board, and you can pretend to go left with your interceptor group, then turn right + boost to get around the squad coming up to meet you. I think splitting up into task groups will be the way to be, but I'm not sure. I'll let you know next Tuesday after my first epic game.
One thing is for certain, Bomber wings will RULE SUPREME!
What are those x-wings in the first picture with the non-round engines??
Believe it or not, that Rebel player is just fine. They can easily avoid getting run over without any ships having to veer off, just by giving the big ships a one forward.
I'm not sold on Epic yet, and don't know if I will come around to it. played a couple, but would rather play 100pt games. But I get that this is what others may want.

They must have an engine upgrade.
Probably just an artistic license. Wanted to make them distinctive looking.

You beat me to asking this.
yea I looked again and saw it was not, so I edited it out.
I think those were from the Pimp my Starship episodes. "and I know you like R2 units so much, we added a R2 unit TO your R2 unit!"

I remember in Star Wars Galaxies, you could have 2 model of engines. The standard one, and the other one shown on this picture. If I remember correctly, those were the player's crafted ones.
I play exclusively Empire, but those square engine Xwings look awesome!
I love the Epic rules...this is the way to play this awesome game!
Had nothing to do with player created. Most player created ones were actually the number 1 model aka the default. The other type, the rounded rectangles were a random generated on looted ones and on a few of certain industries. You could retain the different look when you reverse engineered them as long as it was the base engine selected. Good times, had my X-wing pimped out, could never find that last yaw level 7 engine though to complete my A-wing set up though :/.
Back to point, people have jousting as their go to, I think epic will actually help break people of this and show them the errors of their way.
Edited by Hujoe BigsThat photo looks like a game of 40K Apocalypse in space. Park opposite each other in a huge crowd and fire until someone wins...

they probably didn't have wide angle lens for their camera and just broadcasted to all pilots to move together for a group shot.
Pilots probably thought some genius strategy behind that move ... sadly, they will be disappointed to hear that their squadron command was taken over by the PR department...
