Handling for Vehicles?

By Ferretz, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

I'm a bit unsure on when Handling should be used in vehicle combat. It is, of course, used in the Gain the Advantage action, but where else? Is handling added to attack rolls too, representing the vehicles ability to line up a shot?

Handling denotes how difficult it is for an under qualified driver/pilot to maneuver the vehicle. This applies specifically to the pilot, not to the gunners.

So, any rolls for moving the vehicle around are upgraded based on how far below Handling that player is in ranks of the applicable Piloting skill.

In combat or out.

Huh? Are you saying that the number next to Handling indicates how many times you upgrade or downgrade a pilot check? I've interpreted the rules way differently. Mostly because the CRB explicitly says that Handling refers to the number of Boost (+) or Setback (-) dice you roll when you make a Piloting check.

As for the OP, I make my players factor in Handling whenever they have to make a Piloting check. So, no for Gunnery.

Oh yeah....

You'll have to forgive me; I haven't done anything space combat related in QUITE awhile. The last time, the vehicle was at 0 so no one really worried about it. The game I am involved in right now doesn't real dwell too much on space checks. We deal with other things.

But yeah, that sounds right. Boost and Setback die....

Anyways, the rest should still stand. Any action involving moving that vehicle should probably use those rules.

Bully.... lol As if things weren't complicated enough.
