Epic Backstabber...

By Emrico, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Played my first game of Epic play tonight with the transport. This didn't come up in the game but I was thinking on an Imperial list for next time on my way home...

Backstabber firing against the Transport. It has no printed arc. My thinking would be that means he is always eligible for his ability as he's never in the firing arc of the transport.

Just wondered if anyone thought that since there is no printed arc on the transport, that Backstabber's ability would never trigger?

Jim

Good enough then. Glad I asked because I totally missed that in the FAQ.

Hi there

First of all, english is not my mother language so I could be wrong

I don't think the FAQ states this. The FAQ says:

“Backstabber” only rolls the additional attack
die granted by his ability if no portion of his
base is inside any of the printed firing arcs on
the defender’s ship token.
A ship with a turret primary or a secondary
weapon is still affected by Backstabber if no
portion of his base is inside the printed firing
arcs on the defender’s ship token.
In that text there is no mention to a ship with no printed firing arcs, it talks only about being off the defender firing arcs.
My point is, if there is no defender firing arc you are always off the defender firing arc.
What do you think?

Q: Is Backstabber outside the firing arc of a ship that has no printed firing arc?

A: No, Backstabber’s pilot ability only triggers against ships that have a printed firing arc.

This is From p11 of the current FAQ.

Yep, no discussion at all. I missed that part of the FAQ.
