What is wrong with three Bounty Hunters?

By TheOriginalOuterRimSmug, in X-Wing

If Fortress builds were any good I might agree, they were sleazy. But they suck. So they're just annoying.

We have a player at my venue that played Triple Firespray every tournament, right until the Shuttle came out. Then he swapped on for a Doom Shuttle and two gunners. He's a good player. But he hasn't won a tournament with it that I've seen. With either build. That should tell you just how non-sleazy it is, when one of our better players can't win with it.

When I say Sleazy I mean it is brokenly good, to the point you have to match it in cheese to win. That just isn't so. Any half decent, metagame conscious build can win. And that basically means every build that doesn't spend too many points on cardboard, Tie Advanceds, or A-wings. There are a few things that are underpowered, but nothing that is overpowered.

Even the Fortress builds can be fun. They may seem "easy" to play but they usually have big weaknesses as well so they are a real test to the opponent. If you know how to defeat them I guess I'm the one getting screwed but otherwise I may be giving you an entirely new game experience. You don't like surprises? Maybe you shouldn't play a game that has ANY variables in it.

Three Firesprays is fine. YT fortress is a blatant mechanic abuse that FFG would do something about if it were actually viable (no kidding, someone posted a response from FFG saying they were keeping an eye on it). All I can say is there's a reason collisions damage the huges.

In addition to all the other fine points mentioned above, playing a list like that COULD, POSSIBLY, indicate you are a d-bag. Im NOT calling you a d-bag, just pointing out the POSSIBILITY of one lurking around the game table.

There is not a single build in this game that necessitates this level of insult. None. People can enjoy playing triple Bounty hunter. Every list in the game is fun, and nothing is so OP as to be sleazy to play.

I would suggest the Lambda/YT fortresses could be deserving of the insult, all though that has less to do with the build as the tactics one wishes to employ with it

Lambda/YT? How do you field those together? They are different factions.

I am referring to the fact that the tactic is employed with both ships even though they are different factions

Ah, I'm not overly familiar with all the different builds. Thank you.

Basically, the OP meant the / to mean "Or", and you interpreted it as an "And".

I don't see how a 3 BH list could be considered sleazy and yet a a Tie Swarm, or any list with Turr Phennir, is considered reasonable.

I'm not saying anyone has made this comparison, but if we're going to talk sleaze...

The Tie Swarm especially, as it has the biggest impact to your opponents overall enjoyment of the game. Usually when I face Tie Swarms, I have to fight the urge not to pull out my phone and surf while my opponent figures out all the moves and shots. It's one thing to beat someone decisively...its another thing to deny them the chance to participate in the game, especially in a timed match.

I'm not trying to put down swarms (despite my disdain for them), just pointing out what hits higher on the Sleaze-o-meter.
